Relax... Edwards will definitely get the Nomination!
Numbers are growing, and folks are waking up! The others are capable, but there are too many problems, and the swiftboating, etc., will overtake even the toughest! Folks are desperate to stand behind a dem that has the fewest setbacks(not intended to flame racism or sexism) It's just the way it is! Edwards is the ONE!!! It's more than a gut feeling..The big tidal surf is coming!!! GO JOHNNY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They set the cheat meter at 5% when they needed at least 7 to overwhelm the massive Dem turnout.

44. It feels like a set-up to me, too.
At first I thought the media was just pushing the Hillary Obama show because it would be good for ratings. I still think that's a big part of it but I also think they want us to nominate someone who can lose the General Election and they know John Edwards would win it handily. They love a close contest and are enamored of their Red State/Blue State/"We're sooooo divided" meme. John is a threat to that because it wouldn't be a close contest AND he'd turn that map blue. Can't have a runaway victory with a truly united America-it's bad for ratings.

66. Ya know, I think these caucuses are a bit messed-up.
It appears that if a candidate does not get more than 15% of those caucusing within a precinct, then their supporters are required to shift their support to a "viable" (i.e. > 15%) candidate or to "Uncommitted."

So, if I'm reading this right, a candidate could have 14% support in every precinct but still walk away with 0% of the delegate vote count. This seems very fubar.

71. Just wondering....
it feels like the Nevada caucus was a bit more chaotic than ours in Iowa.

I heard that only several thousand people participated in the Nevada caucuses, last time.

It sounds like there was a huge turnout in NV. There was a huge turnout in Iowa, but
the candidates had such a long time to galvanize their volunteer efforts and ensure that
they had precinct captains who were experienced with the caucus.

It sounds like a lot of the precinct captains in NV were new? That might have made for
more chaotic circumstances.

It's too bad that the campaigns don't have more time between the states--to organize
and get the grass-roots doing.

Thanks for all that you did. I'm sure it was challenging, but you participated in
democracy and you worked hard. Kudos to you.

need to get rid of this delegate system and just vote one citizen one vote...
I dont need a go between delegate who doesnt represent me and is free to change
who he/she votes for even though they're supposed to vote for who the group said..

This delegate crap is a major mistake especially with the Super delegates, read party bosses, having extra power to change what THE PEOPLE want as the candidate.

Hillary is too tight with big money, and she represents the status quo in Washington.

Barack doesn't stand a chance against the vicious GOP machine.

It's Edwards for me. Surely there are still a few intelligent people who vote that haven't had their say yet?

16. That's my opinion. We're screwed - country is gone. Too far gone - and no one...
...is interested in saving it - or not enough people. They're all googley-eyed over a smooth-talking black dude ("oohh! Ahhhh!) or a baggage-weighted status quo woman instead, both of them already bought and paid for by corporate AmeriKKKa and one of them too naive to even be aware of it (yet). Pffft! Yee ha - more of the same core problem that keeps the same issues from ever being resolved in this country.

So - I'll just keep supporting and write in Edwards! My state has their primary in MAY anyway so it won't make a lick of difference that time.

As for the GE, I had originally intended to just get behind whoever was the nom but the more I see and hear of those two the more grossed out I am about both of them. I dunnooooo...

We vote in April. Hell or high water, my vote goes to Senator Edwards.

Really split on the GE though. We have excellent candidates running down ticket (and our Pub Congressman almost lost last time to the D). They will definitely have my support and volunteer time. Just not sure at this point what I will do with the top spot if my choice is DLC. Probably won't know until I am in the booth on Nov 6th.

17. damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead?
This isn't a battle order I would be following, it's no longer time to hunker down, the hordes are fixing to over-run the JE frontline.

JE should drop out of sight before California and spare himself a hornet's nest of unpopular sentiment there. Surely the 5% he got in NV might end up appearing like the tidal wave of support, compared to the neglible California results he will face soon.

"...in the California Democratic Party convention in early 2003, when Dean exploded onto the political scene, Edwards was booed for announcing his support for the war just a couple days before bombs started dropping...Edwards spoke in support of the Iraq war and all hell broke loose. The entire convention hall resonated in boos, the crowd chanting “no war! No war!” It was an amazing sight, and Edwards seemed a bit taken aback."

Nevada should have been a place where Edwards got a better showing. These people are pretty much uniformly living in the second of the two Americas. But the Unions did not stand behind Edwards like you'd think.

On to South Carolina. If he ranks in the single digits there, I'm afraid that might be it for realistic chances. Looks like Clinton compromising will be the way of the Dem future. Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton.

32. I used to go to a lot of horse races
At one time I was a pretty good handicapper and actually made some money at the track. We're hardly out of the starting gate, not even to the quarter pole yet, I'm reserving judgment until after the fifth of next month. I don't know how many times the winning horse was buried while everyone was touting this one or that one, but when they came around to the home stretch those favorites heads started bobbing and their strides slowed and the hidden winner would sweep on by. Don't give up yet.

I kept telling people to wait for the fucking eighth pole. I was right and the two favorites finished last and my 7-1, 32-1, and a 10-1 shot came in 1 2 3! I won the big money on the trifecta. I was so nervous about the race I stayed in the bathroom and knew all was good for me when there was no cheering from the crowds. I handicapped that race like a diamond. NOBODY but me was at the IRS window after that race. I am sticking with John. He is my Alphabet Soup who clobbered Cigar in the classic. Go Baby Johnny Go.

The IRS takes 28% from you at the moment you win. The beautiful thing is you can deduct the amount of your winnings. The IRS figures that you must have lost as much as you won in a given year, that year 2001, I went to the track ONCE, the day I kicked ass all over the map. So I hadn't lost a penny and I got all that 28% back. Jesus how sweet is that? So I will stick with my pick but I am very leary of the fucking media and their voice.

42. I never imagined in a million years, he would end up with 4% in a caucus or primary.
I don't think it's his fault. People are just blinded by name and celebrity at this point. It's the culture we live in. If this primary season was say 40/50 years ago it would be totally different to say the least. He's fighting the good fight and if people just shrug it off, they have no one else to blame when they end up with shitty presidents, shitty congress, and a shitty government.

45. Most of the Dems I talk to IRL are happy with all/any of our candidates - no desperation.
That's the repooplicans with that problem.

Don't get me wrong, the people I talk to generally have favorites in the race, but pretty much to a person they all say that they'll be happy with anyone of our potential nominees.

82. IMHO, Edwards will get the nomination because he's white and he's not Hillary...
At any rate, he'll be on the ticket. I don't expect that the party will sign off on a ticket that doesn't contain at least one white man.

Just a prediction. I could be wrong.

90. If it's Hillary, betting VP Richardson or (hopefully) Wes Clark.
Obama's VP = I have NO idea. Edwards would be good or Biden. But

Don't know if Edwards would play 2nd fiddle to "newbie" BO.

IMHO, the VP choices will be VERY TELLING!
