Wes Clark gave a great speech in support of Sen. Clinton last night in Nevada
He was introducing her at a rally.

And something he said, has stayed in my mind since.

General Clark was basically saying how well versed Sen. Clinton is on the issues...that she knows the issues back and forth. He went on to say that he knows people here in Washington, who tremble when they have to brief her...because she knows the issues so well. (Meaning, they know they won't be able to pull the wool over her eyes and tell her just anything when they brief her).

THIS is the kind of President we need. For the past almost eight years now, we've had a president who bragged about not being a big reader.

But with Sen. Clinton, we will have someone who knows the issues and is not afraid to do nuance.

1. For God's sakes, we need someone who can read back in the WH.
I do like Hillary's intelligence and knowledge.

2. I never understood the drunken infatuation many had with Wes Kanne Clark
Was the field in 2004 so poor that some felt compelled to cast their lot with a former Republican? Lee Mercer, Jr. was a perfectly candidate at that time to take on George W. Bush, but Clark and his CNN apparatus saw to it media attention was scotched.

10. Thanks for playing, but he was NEVER a republican. Other than that?
Might have something to do with him being the first **** general to say monkey boy was full of shit
That and about a half a hundred other things.

You can pick up your consolation prize on the way out. :hi:

14. He voted for Reagan
Spoke out for many Republicans, including GWB. Wes had an about face because a couple of people on the internet fell in love with his calm eyes on Wolf Blitzer's "The Situation Room".

18. You didn't say he voted for Reagan, you said he was a republican, but you can't back it up
because your post is still steaming in your litter box.

19. therein lies the problem with western politics
You can pick up your consolation prize on the way out.

People seem to think it's about their team winning.

Wes Clark also speaks in glowing terms about WHINSEC so I'm a little suspect as to his judgement

21. Ummm... your theory doesn't explain why no other network ever mentioned...
... what's his name, either. MSNBC, Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, BBC, PBS. The Clark Conspiracy seems a bit far-fetched.

I'm not a total hermit, and I've never heard of the guy until the last few weeks, here.

4. So why did she vote for
the Iraq war, when Wes Clark opposed it?
Why did she vote for the Kyle/Liebermann Iran thing?

Her responses to Code Pink spoke loudly to her not knowing the issues.

5. "they won't be able to pull the wool over her eyes and tell her just anything when they brief her"
...

Clinton justified her 2002 Iraq war vote again on Meet the Press, saying that she thought "it was a vote to put inspectors back in” so Saddam Hussein could not go unchecked. She insisted that she was “told by the White House personally” as were others that that’s what the resolution was for and noted that Bush himself said publicly that the resolution was the best chance to avoid a confrontation.

Moderator Tim Russert pointed out that the title of the resolution was the “Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002.”

Clinton responded saying, “We can have this Jesuitical argument about what exactly was meant. But when Chuck Hagel, who helped to draft the resolution said, 'It was not a vote for war,' What I was told directly by the White House in response to my question, 'If you are given this authority, will you put the inspectors in and permit them to finish their job,' I was told that's exactly what we intended to do.”

11. Why would a Dem call the WH for voting advice?
I'm even more firmly on Edward's side.

15. But the OP isn't ABOUT them, now is it? It's about HRC and how she
(to paraphrase) couldn't be fooled by them bad old neocons. Nosirree. Except she either WAS, or went along with their lies. Either way, she keeps defending her actions, which at the VERY LEAST show she indeed CAN be fooled.

20. because they knew what it was really about
the problem isn't really that Clinton et al voted for it but their piss poor excuses for it when it became politically untenable.

I'd respect them more if they were honest and said "it was imperative to prevent he future trading of Iraqi oil in Euro's which would have been devastating for the US economy and empire"

THAT is why they supported the war, because they support the US Empire which can only be sustained through th super exploitation of the non western world.

To claim they were "duped" only begs the judgement that they are too stupid to be President if one believes it.
