1. THAT is the picture taken while Katrina was blowing away New Orleans! McCain will pay for that if
he's the candidate. He ate birthday cake with the psycho while New Orleans drowned.:grr:

3. Excellent observation!
Louisiana just might turn blue this year if McCain is the GOP nominee.

27. What should he have been doing?
And, if you were the governor of LA, how would YOU feel if a senator from Arizona stepped in without your asking?

35. He shouldn't have been having a happy photo-op.
Not many people were smiling as New Orleans drowned.

39. That's part of being President.
I'm sure somewhere, Bill Clinton smiled at least once during the Rwanda massacre, FDR surely smiled after Pearl Harbor, Jimmy Carter smiled after the hostages in Tehran were taken. PR is just part of it.

40. I was responding to your question of McCain.
If McCain had any class he would have help off on that stupid picture.

Chimpy should have been doing a hell of a lot more than smiling for the camera.

It is quite a bit different to smile sometime after a tragedy happened than to take a photo-op DURING a major domestic catastrophe.

31. Nope.
The people that would vote for him will NOT hold that against him. They don't give a shit about New Orleans so it isn't an issue.

15. We thought the same about Chimpy too
It's amazing who the American electorate will vote for. The Democrats will HAVE to attack McCain and connect him to Bush every single day. And show those pics to everyone. If he goes up against Clinton I am still petrified of a loss there.

19. I don't get his allure.
He's not well-liked by the Republican base, and Democrats will never forget his cozying up to Bush regarding the war. I suppose that lots of independants are attracted to his former status as a "maverick" (ugh!) and his position on torture, but I can't see any compelling positives to a McCain candidacy. As much as I respect his service during the Vietnam War, I think he's a pandering old fool.

(Oh, and Hello DU. I've been a little scared to join up since I found the place, but I'm bored and felt like having some interaction today.)

32. I think you're underestimating McCain. He's likable, informed, funny
and a war hero to boot.

I'm very scared that "maverick" McCain, backed by mainstream media, can beat Obama or Clinton.

Of all the Republicans, he's by far the scariest, in my opinion. Here on DU, he's a "schmuck." But what counts is the electorate.

36. He is the most formidable puke candidate.
But, that is not saying much.

When he stands on the stage, with only one of the Dems, he will pale in comparison. I'm not worried about him.

He is running on Chimpy's Third Term. America isn't buying the shit he's selling.
