Poll question: It was better ........
You don't have to have been alive during a particular era to have an opinion about it. So, suspending whatever it is you might need to suspend to participate in this poll ....... what do you think?

It was better ........

2. Puzzling.
I can only think that "Youth is wasted on the young." (They really don't have a fucking clue.)

5. I liked the 70s.
Pre-Ronald Reagan, and of course I was old enough, age 10-20, to be aware of what was going on in the world around me, and young and energetic enough to enjoy it.

6. Politically speaking it was better during the 1990s with the exception
of the neocons in power in Ontario (where I lived at the time). The world was a better place. America showed leadership. There was hope. We will get that back in exactly one year. A Dem will win.

8. I gotta go with the 70's
sure we had Vietnam and some pretty serious economic issues and environmental issues. But women were starting to be free to go to work, meaning more economic independence. We had contraception, so parenthood became more of a choice women could make and with that, and before HIV, people had the chance to begin to explore who they really are and what actually works for them. Healthcare was still obtainable and more or less affordable. Same with housing. There were the beginnings of actual change regarding institutional racism. Unions still had enough power to make a difference in building a strong middle class.

Overall it wasn't perfect, of course, but I think it was a good blend of opportunity and stability for most Americans.
