Reframing "social programs." Those two words are Republican buzzwords
and we shouldn't use "social programs." We need another term, something like "human infrastructure" or something that underlines the utility of investing in schools, job training, healthcare, and a safe and secure setting that allows our economy and society to flourish.

1. Good point
Calling them "social programs" causes a Pavlovian Response among both Republicans as well as many independants because the GOP has successfully tied the word "social" to mean "Socialist" among the masses.

3. We need to take back our agenda. It's so much easier to play a home
game than an away game. Let's get back or rebuild familiar ground.

4. I've heard the term "human capital" but that makes us sound like possessions.

5. As is 'entitlement', they can't get past that one when applied to American citizens...
at the We The People level; in that it is their contention that they are the only ones 'entitled' to anything, having worked so hard snarking people out of their money & futures...everyone else must stand in some other line, preferably a charity, or church driven, 'faith based' thousand points of light soup kitchen

6. They don't understand that it was the laws and "human infrastructure"
that made their ascent into whatever social class they claim, possible. Where would their businesses be without that socialist super highway system. What about the teachers that taught them, the policeman, the people who make sure the water they drink is safe. It was the investment we made into their education, their health and safety that eased the way for them.

7. investing in our citizens and our future
the wealth of this country is not the natural resources it has but the people it has (until they are sufficiently dumbed down by anti-science, pro-belief system BS).

8. Your subject line says it well, in less than nine words.
