Saudi Women Gaining New Rights
While not exactly land of the free and home of the brave, the KSA is changing very quickly... I think this should get them to about the equivalent of 1850 in the US...

Saudis ease restrictions on women

Gulf News Report
Published: January 22, 2008, 00:54

Dubai: Women in Saudi Arabia can now stay in a hotel or a furnished apartment without a male guardian according to a decision by the Ministry of Trade, reported the local press on Monday.

Meanwhile, government officials said Riyadh is planning to lift the ban on women drivers... http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/saudi_arabia/10183906.html

FYI

I posted this because the story in Breaking News was not complete and did not have details about the removal of the driving ban...

2. One Step At A Time I Guess.
But I still find it mind boggling how in this day and age, there are so many steps yet to take in how so many global cultures treat women as less than human.

3. Cool! At the rate the Saudis are progressing...
...and we are regressing, I predict we will have equivalent legal systems by 2025.

7. Didn't say I was hopeful...
Saying that, I have never seen a society/country more hypocritical than KSA.

Mullah by day Disco by night... that's all I'm going to say about that...

8. Yep. It's an insane place. Very..fundamental, in some respects.
And when those bastards go "off the rez" to London or Monaco or where ever, they go competely ga ga.

The ladies behind the veils will be further inclined to support the Royals with these measures, certainly. After all, it was the Royals who 'allowed' them to be educated. When choosing between the Wahabbists and the Royals, the latter look like progressives!!
