It's the ECONOMY, stupid. What to do?
This man:

needs to start providing some detail on what he will do about the situation, like, NOW, while everybody's paying attention. And it certainly shouldn't be more of the usual. Whispers suggest to me that even Mr. Murdoch himself may be ready and willing to jump ship, changing horses in mid-stream (as we have been seeing perhaps already via his (UK) Times and Sunday Times; I don't know about his Sky or any other TV (don't have one; don't want one)). Go for it, for the sake of Americans and of the World. Get it right. Go for it.

In my humble non-voting opinion from here in Europe.

3. He seems to have caught the corporate media's attention.
Now he needs to explain why Reagan and the bushes have it so wrong and destroyed the largest consumer market in the world.

4. Mr. Clinton (if it's at all relevant) did better than those

But was also guilty of, for a start, fiddling the figures (statistics).

ed. And we all know that Ms. Clinton has been in bed with some of the usual corporate suspects (figurative).

16. Mr. Murdoch, BTW, I'm told,
(perhaps unlike other 'media moguls', which tend to be more impersonal corporations) is only interested in money. Not politics as such, just being the big man in his chosen field and making lots of money. And that usually involves, as does relate to politics, not finding himself winding up on the losing side.

5. Yes. I'm open to hearing
what Obama proposes do about the state of the economy. What ideas does he have to repair the destruction that Bush's insane tax cuts while borrowing to fund a disastrous war has done?

6. Mr, Obama appears to be a quick-thinker.
Let's see if he is also fast on his feet.

7. Don't expect candidates to change something that they won't even address.

15. Well, it's a dangerous set of issues, isn't it,
Edited on Tue Jan-22-08 07:41 PM by Ghost Dog
especially when first you plan to get elected. Easy to commit an error in what you say and get wiped out (metaphorically). And raising campaign finance is always a too huge issue in your country (which Mr. Obama says he aims to change). Maybe he's enough finance (and exposure) for the primaries, but then there will be the race itself. So it's wise to step carefully.

But the economy is becoming central, as it should, in the debate. It relates to everything, I don't have to spell it out, from the Occupation and so-called 'Long War' and the weight of the military-industrial complex in your economy, through all that needs sorting in your society, to crucial environmental issues.

And then, once elected, it's even more dangerous. Do I have to say, look what happened to the Kennedys - wiped out, literally?

Tell me why not. Some gut instinct, based on selected information (information I've chosen to review rather than just soaking up what's on TV) tells me this man, more than any other viable option, could be the one prepared to try it. I don't think he's the type to just sit back on the laurels of becoming the first black POTUS and place himself under the thrall of the usual cabal(s). But of course I could be mistaken and it could go horribly wrong. But things are going horribly wrong anyway unless something very radical is done, and damned soon.

Just IMHO. And right now, as I say in the OP, I'm waiting to hear what he has to say NOW.

17. I've read that Kucinich is introducing an impeachment bill against Bush on the SOTU speech day.
The more people fighting for what's right, the better.

8. The only one that has
seriously and consistantly addressed the economy are John Edwards and Ron Paul. Huckabee and Romney are just now including it in their stump speeches.
