Cat From Florida Flies To Texas In Suitcase
FORT WORTH, Texas (CBS) ― A shy 10-month-old tabby has quite a story to tell after traveling across the country inside a suitcase, according to CBS station KTVT-TV in Dallas.

Gracie Mae's owner, Kelly Levy, was worried the morning her husband, Seth, left Florida for a flight to North Texas. They hadn't seen their cat since the early evening.

Levy searched the usual places a fearful cat would hide - including a crawl space in the bathroom wall. Levy even had some of the tiles removed to make sure the recently spayed and still-recovering kitten wasn't stuck.

"I started to tear the house apart. I was frantic. I couldn't find her," the 24-year-old told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

<snip>

As Kelly Levy searched for the kitten, her husband couldn't find his suitcase when he arrived at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport baggage claim.

<snip>

As Kelly told the newspaper, the man who retrieved her husband's bag called to tell her of his surprise find.

<snip>

Gracie Mae returned safely home Sunday night on an $80 plane ticket, the newspaper reported.

2. You must not be a cat owner. My cats got in my bag all the time as I was packing.
One is black...so you couldn't see him. I'd be thowin shit in and just before I'd zip it all the way his dumb ass would pop out.

Trust me. It can happen.

8. I have 2 cats...
and no way could I squish them into a suitcase without them throwing a fit. That guy must be a light packer for there even to be room for a cat. :shrug:

3. We had a cat that simply LOVED crawling into suitcases.
He didn't seem to prefer other tiny spaces nearly as much-
there was something about black nylon suitcases that he just
couldn't get enough of. He almost got stored in the attic
once, but started meowing just in time.

4. Wild as it sounds I've read about this before
I actually thought it was the same cat story until I checked the dates. The other was May of last year.

15. it was a big story in canada about the canada air cat
the screeners were so lame they asked her if she had a turkey and when she said, "no," they said, "okay, dopey us, you may pass"

why do we screen at all if we (and our canadian friends) can't do better than this?

24. Seriously.
How is this happening? They can find a bag of weed hidden inside a candle...long story, not me...how can they not find a living breathing cat?

5. Easily done, cats are quite sneaky
Hell, I was remodeling my bathroom years ago, and our newest kitten got into the wall and took a nap. Luckily, though I had put up the green board in the shower, I had yet to put up the tile when I heard her meowing. Didn't cost me much.

A determined cat can get into most anything or anywhere and not be noticed.

7. I had a kitty jump in a hole cut in the wall to replace a shower faucet.
The little bugger fell down into the wall and I couldn't see him. He scared the hell of me when he started reaching up and snagging the newspaper I was using as a blocking behind the sheetrock. :P

19. So easy especially a kitten
my cats and my dogs both loved/love to curl up in a suitcases - now the dogs can't hide so well but the cats could - although they are/were big cats so the suitcase would have felt too heavy - but a kitten or light cat - easy as anything for this to happen.

20. Even my big Maine Coon will cram himself into a carry on
and my average sized cat Puck will burrow inside clothes in suitcases, seeming to disappear completely. I always check through the clothing before I zip them up!
