question, please. did cnn cover ANY pro-choice events yesterday? I was
only able to check sporadically, but when I did, all I saw was the nutso anti-choice types.

just wondering, since some report I caught the day before referred to an "unborn child" rather than a fetus.

thanks in advance.

4. I saw that. She was full of it, spouting disinfo the whole time.
The callers were even worse, though. A bunch of misinformed control freaks. And they were overwhelmingly against Roe.

15. I think liberal women all over need to start wearing pins every single
day in support of Roe.

I mean it. After listening to those callers, we need some major push back. Already they've restricted access to abortion -- particularly in rural areas. Those women are screwn.

The only thing I've ever done on this issue is donate and once, I debated in college in a public forum but that was years ago.

but you are right... that is what is wrong with this country... until it affects YOUR FAMILY most people don't care... and thats a big horrible problem

22. I agree. There's a dissertation on how "family" is construed
in American culture. And "community", too.

26. I used to have the "never again/coathanger" pin that I wore every day.
time to get a new one (and I used to carry several in my purse at all times to give to people who would nearly grab me and say, "I want one, too")

6. Those crazy callers really got to me, too
I was listening on the radio while exercising (the madder I got, the faster I walked!).

I swear I heard a male caller say that a woman who sought an abortion should be forced to carry the baby to term and then tried for attempted murder!

Did anyone else hear this?!

16. Another favorite - blaming abortion for the supposed culture decline
I just cannot stand to hear people say that. They point to something problematic (e.g., a pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears) and blame the availability of abortion. Huh?!

Oh -- and this one, too: the reason we have so many illegal immigrants now is because we've aborted a whole generation of workers.

(I'm getting energized for pro-choice lobby day in VA next week, as you might be able to tell!)

18. The frame that really gets me is "Liberals are pro abortion".
NOBODY is "pro abortion". I've never met a single woman who was **happy** to have an abortion. Grateful it was available but, that's different. I've never met anyone who got up one morning and said, "Cool! I'm going to kill a baby today. What shall I wear to the murder?"

We let these psychos frame this issue and although some effort has been put in to reframing it, they have a big head start.

23. You are so right - we've let them have the pr edge
They are for the children and we are not -- that is the way that they have framed it and they have been very successful in publicizing their POV.

I think we have to get back to the issues of privacy and women's healthcare and emphasize those points.

24. The House Democrats are part of the problem.
Pelosi wanted Roemer for DNC Chair, remember? He's anti abortion. I remember because I called her office and told the staffer that if she backed him with his horrible position on women's health, I could no longer back her.

But, wtf?! NANCY PELOSI wanted an anti-choice guy for DNC chair.

3. Just a mention, as opposed to video
I think this was CNN, but it could have been the local DC area news.

Brief video was played showing the pro-life march and there was some discussion of this.

The anchors then just mentioned that NOW had a counter rally as kind of an afterthought.

I kept watching throughout the day, but it was the same thing each time.

12. One of those WJ callers really pissed me off.
She said that husbands killing their wives because they were pregnant showed what kind of a society we've become.

All I could think was, if abortion was available to those women, they might still be alive. :grr:

21. I marched in a huge pro-choice demonstration in DC in '92 ...
The next day, the Washington Post ran a front-page article basically dismissing the bazillions of us who turned out because we were younger and more liberal than the population at large and so therefore our voices didn't really count. :eyes:
