DU Tech Wish List: Troll Torture Device
My idea for a troll torture device:

Once a troll is identified, a special digital device automatically hides all troll posts to everybody but the troll. The troll is not banned. His or her posts continue to appear on the troll's screen. But, since nobody else can see them, nobody can answer them. The troll will continue to post, but without response, eternally.

Some trolls may get discouraged, and leave. To keep them posting useless posts, there should be a fake poster/ fake post database that responds to the troll at random intervals and with random responses. The responses need have no relation to the troll's message. So, a troll could be posting the usual Obama Muslim nonsense, and the random response generator would respond with an outraged post about NASA budgets.

Who can provide working code on this?

11. "Gravel"bot is my only friend. LOL.. j/k
that sounds funny to me. I seriously love Gravelbot, he makes me laugh. I had fun making him (obviously the more serious creation), but yeah, trolls, they're evil like clowns.

thank you

4. Couldn't they just limit the # of posts someone could do?

5. It wouldn't matter...nobody else could see them
If bandwidth is a concern, I suspect they'd leave eventually...:-)

6. At some point, though, wouldn't it be fun to share the results?
It would be fun to actually SEE the troll's frustration at not getting any responses, at some point. Perhaps a companion to the DUzy's--a compilation of the greatest hits of these idiots...

Shouldn't be too hard to work in.

7. There's only one problem with this excellent idea
We couldn't see them get all frustrated and mad!

13. Sounds like a modified version of Tachy Goes to Coventry
I like Miserable Users better, they're less likely to figure it out, especially if you flip it on and off at odd moments.

15. That torture device is already operational
Here's how it works. Say you hate the Democratic party and/or one or more of the Democrats' leading candidates. You go and post at this website. But here's catch: almost nobody reads it except other people who hate the Democratic party and/or one or more of the Democrats' leading candidates.

You think you're doing something, but you're not. Best of all, you get flamed, because the few others who post here hate a slightly different candidate than you!

It's all really quite clever.

17. I make little distinctions
Like that between a jokey internet post imagining message board torture and a serious post advocating prison rape, and the like.

Call me wacky!

:hi:
