Poll question: Paraguayan Tin Foil Hats?
We've all knonw for quite some time of stories that the Bushes recently bought a shitload of land in Paraguay (WWII Nazi Retirement Community), near the Bolivian border.

Some speculate it was just another way to enrich the family coffers, essentially an effort to corner the fresh water market in central South America.

Some speculate they bought the land and are guarding it with mercenaries, to ensure they have a safe haven when Caligula leaves office.

Some say they never bought the land at all.

What story do you believe?

Oh .... and for nothing except I've not yet said it today: Fuck You, George Bush.

1. Paraguay is a Nazi retirement community?
Shit, that must be why you never meet any Paraguayans. There are none. They're all ex-nazis.

Bush in Paraguay (Update)

Wonkette, of all sites, has a superb rundown of a story
:
http://www.wonkette.com/politics/george-w.-bush/we-hate-to-bring-up-the-nazis-but-they-fled-to-south-america-too-208549.php

we first told a few days ago: Bush the elder has purchased nearly a hundred thousand acres in northern Paraguay, apparently adjacent to, or carved from, the 1,482,600 acres (!!!) owned by the Reverend Sun Myung Moon, the Bush family's most notorious friend. Regarding the latter spread, this story (brought to my attention by a reader) is a must-read:

Nevertheless, national Senator Domingo Laino sees a different pattern in Moon's acquisitions. "There are two principal branches to Moon's interest in Paraguay," he said, "control of the largest fresh drinking water source in the world and control of the narcotics business", which is so prevalent in this area.http://www.rickross.com/reference/unif/unif240.html

11. UK Guardian: "How Bush's Grandfather helped Hitler's Rise to Power":
How Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's rise to power

Rumours of a link between the US first family and the Nazi war machine have circulated for decades. Now the Guardian can reveal how repercussions of events that culminated in action under the Trading with the Enemy Act are still being felt by today's president

Ben Aris in Berlin and Duncan Campbell in Washington
Saturday September 25, 2004
The Guardian

George Bush's grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.
The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company's assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy.

4. Bush doesn't think he'll ever have to go to trial for everything
he's done. If you look at the history of his family, that has generally been the case. No, he's savvy enough to realize the truth about world climate change and to know how precious water will become. But knowing his business expertise, he'll wind up messing up this deal as well. Just hope a whole bunch of poor folks don't wind up hurt and dead.

6. Does anyone remember
a photo of Shrub in front of a bookcase in the WH? (A year or two ago, maybe it was around the time they were talking up his prolific reading habits).

I looked at the titles and one was something like "Guide to the World's Biological Riches". I knew then that plundering the planet was definitely on the agenda for the BFEE.

7. There was a map done recently
that showed which areas of the world would be affected by global warming and by how much.

Guess where one of the few spots on the planet is that doesn't suffer very much?

Overlay that with the rumored Bush / Unification Church land purchases.

Just as an aside, both Dick Cheney (MR OIL) and GWB have their respective ranches... Wyoming and Crawford TX... would it surprise you to find out that both places are about as "green" (solar powered, highly efficient energy users, etc etc) as is technically possible right now?

They sure are... the Pig Farm in Texas is a net energy producer.

Interesting, no?

16. Sorry, it was posted here (well a link was)... probably
about 2 months ago. I should have bookmarked it.

You might start at www.climatehotmap.org but that isn't THE map that I saw referenced here. The map I saw had "iso-change" lines and color coding to indicate their predictions on the amount of change from global warming would be present.

Also, I have no idea where they got their predictive data from that was used to create that map.

All I remember is how little land mass there was on the planet that showed "minimal effects"... and that one of the areas indicated was in the same area as the rumored Paraguay ranch.

Maybe a search of the archives in the environmental forum?

8. Some people seem unaware of Paraguay's history, wouldn't you say?
Alfredo Stroessner; Paraguayan Dictator

By Adam Bernstein
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, August 17, 2006; Page B05

Alfredo Stroessner, 93, the Paraguayan despot whose 35-year reign marked an uninterrupted period of repression in his country, which became a haven for Nazi war criminals, deposed dictators and smugglers, died Aug. 16 at Hospital Santa Luzia in Brasilia of complications from a hernia operation.

Gen. Stroessner, one of the world's longest-serving non-Communist heads of state, was forced from power in 1989 in a military coup. This led to his exile in Brazil, which did not act on Paraguayan courts' later requests for his extradition on homicide charges.

~snip~
A Paraguyan senator, Carlos Levi Rufinelli, a member of the token opposition party, told the New York Times in 1975: "I was a prisoner 19 times, and I was tortured six times. Most of the time, I did not know what they wanted. They did not even know what they wanted. But when they put the needles under your fingernails, you tell them anything, you denounce everybody, and then they say, 'See, you were lying to us all the time.' "

A schoolteacher, Martin Almada, was arrested in 1974 and tortured for 10 days because of his union efforts to increase teacher pay. While he was in prison, his screams were recorded and played over the phone to his wife. She died of a heart attack after the police sent his bloodied clothes to her home and told her to collect his corpse. He was not, in fact, dead and later became one of the country's post-dictatorship human rights champions.

All the while, the country became astoundingly corrupt. Payoffs were essential to all commerce, with much of the swag going to top military officers. Paraguay became a sanctuary for smugglers in arms, drugs and everyday goods such as whiskey and car parts.

In a noxious twist on Latin hospitality, Gen. Stroessner provided refuge for French-born international heroin dealer Auguste Ricord; strongmen such as Argentina's Juan Perón and Nicaragua's Anastasio Somoza Debayle (later assassinated in Paraguay); and war criminals, including Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor known as the "Angel of Death" who performed genetic experiments on children.

14. He used to own a TON of United Fruit, which became Chiquita, and it is huge in Guatemala.
No doubt he still retains some of that property.

His name comes up in this report:

Corporate raider Eli M. Black bought 733,000 shares of United Fruit in 1968, becoming the company’s largest shareholder. In 1969 Zapata Corporation, a company in which George H. W. Bush held significant interest, acquired a controlling interest in United Fruit. Robert’s father, Ralph Gow, was on United Fruit’s board of directors.

Tons of stuff around about United Fruit/Chiquita/Guatemala/George H. W. Bush

17. If they bought the land and I believe they have.
My conclusion is that Bush/Cheney are confident they will never face justice for their crimes, on the other hand, I believe they have enough sense to know global warming climate change is for real. The evidence is just too overwhelming for even Bush to deny. Their previous denials and putting off are more to do for their corporate benefactors than any belief that it's not happening.

Therefore I believe the plan is to use it more as a lifeboat for them and their cronies when global warming climate change truly hits the fan, the rest of the U.S. will be doing a Katrina on steroids rerun of sorts, although with some it will be floods and others may be drought. I suppose Blackwater Mercenaries would serve well as their security.

Just wondering?? What about looking at current affairs in Paraguay, like the release of the secret security archive, with info about Operation Condor and Nazi connections.
