If they know that we know it is essentially a payday loan and that most of us won't spend it .....
... they will be forced to change it. Get the word out. It is a terrible, twisted joke on the poor. A scam that most people seem to be falling for AGAIN !!!! I am amazed at how many people I know don't remember that last one in 2001 that we had to pay back in full in 2003.

2. I heard that we are supposed to pay taxes on this "Rebate" like it is income,

instead of an advance on taxes owed. So even if we put put in a savings account, the low interest earned won't cover the tax involved.
Anyone else hear this?

3. Classic mentality of the wealthy. Throw some money at them - maybe they
will go away.

I think that the repubicons are trying to stem the tide of negative public opinion to do something to improve their chances of staying in office. But all this does is increase deficit spending. In effect they are lending us our own money - and we are going to have to pay it back with interest.
