McCain's Mom

Did anyone else see John McCain's Mom interviewed on C-Span last night? Funny stuff.

One of her many gems was saying that McCain has no support among the Republican base and that they're going to have to hold their noses and take it when he's nominated. I like her.

but shes 96 i think she said, what do you expect.

i honestly felt bad for her when i watched the interview. being thrown out there to repeat the same things over and over for her son. 'hes got experience, hes a hard worker, and hes a good boy!'.. she really struggled to answer some questions too.

I felt bad for her too when you could tell she was getting frustrated a couple of times. I'm a little surprised the campaign had her do it.

5. I've seen it twice. She isn't 'nutty'--she is sharp as a tack and smart, too.

For someone who has lived almost a hundred years, she is AMAZING. And she has a twin in the same shape!!!

I liked her, too. Feisty, determined, no nonsense, and a very beautiful woman.

I liked the fact that she bought a car when the rental car company wouldn't rent one to her in France. What a grand "fuck you" to the ageist bastards!

I hope she lives for another decade or more in good health. If we do end up with McCain-Lieberman, she'd be the best thing about such an administration.

8. Apparently she did JUST fine! And there's nothing wrong with her vision in the slightest.

She has "no aches or pains at all." She's still active and doing fine for herself.

I do hope you remember your dismissive attitude if you are fortunate enough to get within shouting distance of her vintage. That gnawing feeling in your posterior will be Karma biting you in the butt, you see!

9. It's no secret that children go for what they know.

I can't tell you how often I've seen kids marry someone who has the qualities of a parent in one fashion or another.

Mom was a beauty in her youth, clearly.

McCain's first wife Carol was a knockout, too (she was a model). She went through some rough times (horrible car accident, leg-shortening surgery as a consequence, cancer) but in her heyday, she was stunning. She was the one who kept insisting on publicity for the POWs, and it could be said that she played a key role in getting him home alive.
