We need a new cabinet position.. "Secretary of Media Affairs"
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 03:44 PM by SoCalDem
Job ONE:

creation of progressive think tanks (in numbers equal to the right wing ones now in exixtence)

Job TWO:

issuing "answer reports" to all the ridiculous tripe that the right wing think tanks regurgitate

Job THREE:

demanding equal air time to truly show "both sides" of issues..

I am sick to my stomach on a daily basis when I turn to CSpan of just about any cable channel and see yet another "panel" discussion brought to us from the lovely folks at AEI, Heritage,CATO et al.

Their brain droppings are NEVER refuted, and the people they choose as their spokespeople are segued right into the mainstream corporate media and often HIRED as commentators/analysts/hosts and given more credence.

THIRTY+ years of this crap is why we find ourselves in the pickle we are currently experiencing.

It's why "liberal" became a "four-letter" word..it's why the "Nooooyorkkk Times" generates laughs when it;s mentioned by republicans..

It's why a ridiculous scheme like PNAC was almost fully realized (and is STILL revered by many)

It's why "democRAT" senator/congressperson/party became "acceptable"..even by democrats.

Media is no longer a guy at a desk, reading us the facts about what happened, and then signing off so we could figure it out by ourselves.

Modern media is blatant corporate propaganda, and must be exposed for what it is..

Everything depends on it..

No matter how many millions of dollars get spent to elect people and promote good governance, it all gets undone/wasted, if only the right wing gets to explain things to the public.

1. Not a cabinet job--a DNC job. A cabinet position would fall in the hands of a GOP president if one
were selected.

2. Not much would change.. they already DO it..just secretly
a cabinet position would at least expose it to sunlight

4. Unfortunately, It Wouldn't Work.
That position could and likely would be just as abused in its existence, as we've seen abuse without it.

6. We need to bust up the M$M monopolies into such tiny pieces,
no one would recognize them anymore.
