NEWS FLASH...Indiana Marriage Discrimination (HELP!)
Edited on Mon Jan-28-08 08:23 PM by and-justice-for-all
Marriage Discrimination Amendment Proponents
Attempt to Amend Language into
Proposed Constitution Amendment on Property Taxes

This morning, an amendment was filed on House Joint Resolution 1, the proposed constitutional amendment on property taxes to include the language of SJR-7, the Marriage Discrimination Amendment.

Indiana Equality has been watching closely for any tricks or maneuvers that the so called "pro-family" organizations might use to keep this issue alive and well in this year's session. As we predicted, this battle is far from over. This amendment is eligible to be heard as the full House takes up the property tax bill in the coming days.

It is imperative that as many people as possible contact their State Representative
by phone NOW and ask them to "reject Amendment #12 on HJR-1,
the harmful Marriage Discrimination Language."

Advance America, the Indiana Family Institute and the American Family Association of Indiana are swarming the halls of the Statehouse as we speak. You can help us fight back!

Step #1 - Identify your State Representative by using this handy look-up tool.

Step #2 - Pick up the phone and call your Representative at 317-232-9600 (or toll free at 800-382-9842) and ask them to "reject Amendment #12 on HJR-1, that inserts the harmful Marriage Discrimination Language."

Step #3 - Bookmark the new Indiana Equality blog for up-to-the-minute details on these changing developments.

1. I live in Indiana, but you haven't given much info or where to go to get the info.
Your link is to the front page of the website. I really need to read the language of the bill before pushing this.
