She doesn't seem to have very many active muscles in her face. She has a dull expression. Seems like a nice lady. Seems very competent (quick first impression) but boring, boring, boring.

She is not always this stiff. She is not totally my cup of tea as a politician but she is bright, nice, kind and competent.

I'm afraid that might not be enough to help get a president elected. She strikes me as most likely a hopelessly terrible debater. She does not seem very quick on her feet.

She is an impressive woman. She does debate well and is quick on her feet. She has been good for Kansas. As I said above she is not my perfect Democrat by a long shot but she is good. I find it very hard to criticize her after working with her on a state wide anti-discrimination policy that she sent out as an executive order. Still, she is likable and not nearly as stiff as she came off tonight.

I'm going to be charitable and assume her soporific speech was chosen for her so as to make the point that there was nothing in Bush's speech worth engaging over. To argue against it would be an admission he had at least one foot planted this side of reality.

Given the incompetence which many of our leaders have shown when engaging Bush this choice may have been all they really had.

What she said...in all of the slow calmness, was this....."Mr. Prez, I am speaking to you in simple and easy to understand sentences..and I am saying to you that if you think about it very carefully, there is a way to save your place in history if you begin now to understand that you have missed the point of being our president. Being our president means that you work with the people to better all of our lives. That is your job.......and it is not too late, if you will realize it....and work with us, Mr. President. I also heard on the local NPR station that she would agree to do the Dem response only if she could write most of it herself, so it's all on her. Do we have anyone left in our party with the spine to call the pResident out? Anyone who will say that his policies and initiatives are pure crap? Sebelius made me sick tonight pandering, bowing, and scraping. I think I need a shower.

I have nothing against Kansas. Some of our best DUers come from Kansas. But that state seriously needs some politicians with just a little oomph in their convictions.

Her father was governor of Ohio at one time.

Am I the only one that thought she did an amazing job at how she carried herself and presented herself? I thought she struck a perfect tone with her words and I was actually quite impressed with her, since I haven't previously had much exposure to her. I could almost see her being President some day. I thought she did great!

But I really thought more here would've agreed. Oh well... What can ya do.

I'm a Californian who moved here four years ago, and I love the more relaxed pace, the (much) lower cost of living, and the people are some of the nicest I've found.

I'm glad you like her. She's actually quite tough. She's a pro-choice woman in one of the most anti-choice states in the union, she's tough on the gun lobby and she's refused to allow two coal-fired power plants in eastern Kansas - and she's being trashed by the coal lobby for it. And she went after Bush about the state of the Kansas National Guard and their equipment being squandered in Iraq.

But it's easier to want her to trash talk Republicans and then wonder why we don't win national elections. Whatever.

I'm not sure if it's because she had almost a 'sitcom President' like demeanor to her or what, but found her to be refreshing, on point, hopeful, intelligent, articulate and a breath of fresh air in some ways. She just came off as strong yet gentle, almost maternalistic (in a good way). She seemed in control and like she can lead, while also having this soothing quality about her. Can't really put my finger on it. I just simply thought she did a great job.
