Hi, my name is George W. Bush. I was elected on the backs of conservatives and aside from a couple good SC nominations (except for whats-her-face, gezz, what was I thinking?) and beating on the Taliban, I’ve screwed them royally.

The end.

Shortest SOTU in history.

I don’t think there is anything he could say that would turn things around. He could get a little mileage out of rubbing the Dems nose in the fact the surge is working, but that’s about it IMHO. At this point, everyone’s worried about the economy and nothing being considered is likely to help it.

I have ZERO interest in what George W Bush has to say tonight especially since he is supposed to send praise Pelosi’s way.

Mercifully, it is his last State of the Union address. Perhaps he will admit that Peggy Noonan is right and that his great act as President was to destroye the coalition that was the Republican Party.

Drudge headline tells half the story. He will praise the bipartisan stimulus package (which I agree is really redistribution), but in somewhat typical fashion, Drudge is telling you a half truth.

I for one am still thankful that we have had President Bush for the last eight years; he isn’t perfect, but neither is anyone who posts on this board. He has kept us safe, he has gone on the attack to change the face of the ME, and I am still quite proud of him.

I’m glad to see that all the republican candidates have been praising the President for all he has accomplished in terms of national security, and each time they do it is better for all of us.

I would like to thank George W. Bush, President of the United States of America.
You changed the game, sir.

With the help of the bravest and the best people America has to offer, you took on a fight alot of America still refuses to acknowledge we are even in, and won.

You did it against the onslaught of a shamelessly agenda driven media and a political party that thinks political power is more important than doing the right thing.

And you shoved it down their throats!

Good for you, Mr. President and thank you!

I’d like to see him tell us again how much we need a comprehensive solution to the illegal immigration problem.

What little gem is he going to propose to give amnesty this time?

What happened to the fence to placate us?
What happened to the newly trained border patrol?
What happened to all of those prosecutions of emoployers other that the odd well-publized arrests, followed by immediate release of all those caught?

I’d like to see him now, in the 11th hour, tell us how he will hold the line on spending.

I’d like to see him, except now that he knows that there is no authority to whom he must answer, I believe I will hear nothing about the state of the union that will give me confidence.

He will tell us how nice it is to get things done, which means, how nice it is to pass democratic legislation so he can look cooperative.

Georgie, you’ve lost me because you ran under false pretenses, either as to the policies you would follow or as to your abilities to lead from the front.

Resdistribution is a polite word for it. In my neck of the woods we'd call it a bribe. And to quote a famous Frenchman...

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Alexis de Tocqueville

And I'll add a ditto for the Executive branch.

But.. when MY GUY, is set to give praise to Pelosi for a refund gift that excludes me, and MY GUY is set to give away BILLIONS of MY MONEY to combat the fraud of AGW... well, I think... I’d rather watch a re-run of MASH, or Family Guy... or, just play with my dog.

I will NOT be watching tonight. If anything momentus occurs, I’m sure I’ll read about it here on FR.

I agree. In spite of any disagreements I have with George W Bush-and I have a couple of profound ones—he is a good man, and in a different league from anything we’ll have next year, from the Left or the Right. No matter what, I’ll always respect the man I saw standing in the rubble of the World Trade Center after 9/11.

Yes, but the man who left office after 8 years of peace and prosperity will always be a total bastard! The rubble of the WTC — what a great symbol of Bush's greatness.

Not a single Democrat even clapped when Bush just read off the accomplishments our troops have achieved.

As I saw President Bush standing in the rubble, I felt like a coward. When he threw the first ball out in front of thousands, I felt like a coward. But in the end, he made me stong and comforted me.
