The lingering stench of "either or"..
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 04:06 PM by SoCalDem
The ONE thing I will always despise most about Bush (although there are MANY) is the way he divided us more than we ever were..

The whole philosophy of 100% FOR or 100% against is killing our society..

You CAN actually hold divergent ideas at the same time..

A person who may prefer a female president, should also be able to accept the fact that a man could be as dedicated to women's rights as a woman. Men have daughters, just as women have sons.

A person who chooses "the aquamarine shirt", does not automatically HATE the blue shirt hanging right next to it.

A legislator who is in favor of gay rights or separation of church-state, does not HATE the Bible, or religion in general.

A person who is against the war, is not UNpatriotic.

A person who may choose a black man to be president does not HATE white people.

People who choose a white woman or a white man may NOT necessarily be racist or sexist.

Freedom to CHOOSE is the bedrock of of our society..at least it used to be.

The ACT of choosing is discrimintory , unless you only HAVE once choice... but then you do not have freedom either.

Demonizing people who choose a way that is not the way YOU would have chosen, is the george w. bush way of thinking..

We are better than that..

His perverted thought process has infected us all during the last 7+ years.. The man who claimed to be a Yooo-niter, has divided and Balkanized us all.

Even on DU, over the years, this has happened. There was a time when people could actually disagree without all the epithets and insults.

Banning used to be a newsworthy event around here, and these days, it's commonplace.

Here's hoping that when the January 09 fumigation occurs, we can all get back to civility...here and in the real world..
