Junk Vehicle Law
Delaware Eyes Junk Vehicle Law

DELAWARE, Ohio – The way residents can sell or store a car on private property may be changing in this city.

Delaware City Council is attempting to change the law regarding so-called "nuisance vehicles". The council is pushing to change where junk vehicles can be sold, claiming that such vehicles are an eyesore and detract from property values.

"A car parked out front does not depreciate property value," Scott Larson, a local resident, protested. "It just doesn't."

According to the Delaware City Council and some in the real estate industry, however, junk cars are indeed a problem.

1. Junk cars "could" depreciate property values
Or, a hugely expensive war that is paid for by deficit spending "could" depreciate property values.

Ah, well, easier to legislate against a car that might have some rust on it. "Clunker reduction" IS ON THE TABLE.

:hi:

2. i've had the cops try to steal my own legally registered and parked car from in front of my own hous
house here in SD. i think it's more of an organized crime theft/extortion ring than anything else. they steal your car and make you pay them to get it back.

3. I've lived there for 6 years.
It's a town clearly devided between the have's and have nots. For many years they had the highest tax rates in the state. The city council is in bed with the real estate investors who are constantly buying up tracts of Delaware. This really comes as no suprise.

4. They tried this in Dawson County, Ga. a few years back.
The good people of Dawson County told the commisioners they would revolt if they tried to enforce such a law.

Wisely, the uppity commissioners backed down.

5. our city already passed an ordinance regarding cars for sale no matter what the condition
you can park in your driveway but not on the street in front of your house. Of course if you just take th "For sale" out of the window you could get around the ordinance.
