Artur Davis talks politics and prosecution

TUSCALOOSA | I'm hearing that the long-rumored "60 Minutes" story on the trial, conviction and incarceration of former Gov. Don Siegelman is in the can and that CBS is just waiting until their part of the NFL playoffs are over to air it. U.S. Rep. Artur Davis, Alabama's 7th Congressional District congressman, seemed to confirm that last week.

Davis, who was very aggressive in questioning the Department of Justice about the prosecution of Siegelman in hearings last year before the House Judiciary Committee on which he sits, had some interesting things to say about the how the now imprisoned ex-governor's case went down. He also said he has been interviewed by "60 Minutes" and took a shot at the coverage given to Siegelman by the Birmingham media.

"We did a lengthy interview with '60 Minutes'," Davis, a Democrat, said in an interview with The Tuscaloosa News editorial board. "The point we tried to make is the court of public opinion is ultimately going decide, is going to evaluate what they think happened to Don Siegelman."

But that's not going to get him out of jail, I said.

"Right," Davis answered. "It's the 11th Circuit that is ultimately going to determine ..........

2. I'd like to know why DNC and Dem party powerplayers deserted Siegelman
and other Dems who had their elections stolen in 2002 so blatantly.

Siegelman was kept tied up so he COULDN'T attain the hard evidence and spill the beans on the election fraud before Nov2004.

Obama and Hillary ought to be weighing in on this and give this case some serious national exposure. Seigleman is a political prisoner, pure and simple. The Republican Organized Crime Party must have had compelling reasons to want to get this man into prison where he could be held incommunicado.

Nice to see you posting...I haven't seen too much of you here....

4. Dem powerplayers MUST have known what was happening to Siegelman AS it was
happening. Why no back up? Why not BELIEVE their Democratic GOVERNOR had his election stolen BLATANTLY?

By backing up charges of election fraud by Siegelman, the DNC would have upset the RNC's plan for 2004.

So....why DIDN'T they?

Isn't much of what the US attorney firings is about concerns for directing attention TOWARDS Dem election theft in order to distract from the institutionalized election fraud of the RNC's tactics?

6. You're not a "powerplayer" when you are not in the office of power.
The Rs abused the power of office from a position of complete control, until election 2006 surprised them! Now, something can be done, and you see how difficult even that is still, because they are still in the positions of power, President, AG, USAs, .... all of Justice in America top-down!

in uncovering the rampant election fraud that was directed at past Dem candidates. That wouldn't be helpful for THEIR gameplans.
