Poll question: If NYC were to secede from NY state what would Staten Island's plan be?

I don't think NYC will secede or should. I wonder why they didn't try to start this process in the mid 1970s?????

But if the city were to secede what does SI do?

1. It could be a separate city within
the state of New York City. That would satisfy the SI secessionists and the NYC secessionists.

2. What about Long Island?
Where would it go? It's bigger than both Rhode Island and Delaware!

3. Long Island wouldn't be affected, it would be part of New York state just like now

4. But to get from Long Island to New York State, you would have to go through
New York City State! And who would you pay your tolls to?

6. Do you think NYC state wouldn't let people from Long Island drive through?

you would pay tolls to whoever is charging tolls.

Am I missing something? Do you think you don't have to pay tolls when you drive in a different state or something? I don't understand what concern you are expressing.

7. NYC State would become more expensive to drive through than Delaware!

5. If any of this were to happen, it would make most sense for SI to become part of NJ.

8. Seems to me on trips home that a significant portion of Staten Island
has already made the move to Jersey.
