3. That was the plan all along
The Iraq war was designed to bankrupt the federal government by sending billions of dollars to defense contractors.

God bless the brave patriots that supported a stupid illegal war that has lead to the death of millions.

4. Here is the yearly Medicaid budget from 2004 from wiki
"It is estimated that 42.9 million Americans will be enrolled in 2004 (19.7 million of them children) at a total cost of $295 billion. Medicaid payments assist nearly 60 percent of all nursing home residents and about 37 percent of all childbirths in the United States."

So he is going to cut nearly the entire budget? Or just 10% of it every year for a decade? Either way, people will die.

Well, I'm sure all of the old people and all of the children who normally receive this payments can just die, then.

Asshole.

But you know what?...he is targeting the poor because he knows that the Democratic party will not stand up for the poor. They only talk about the middle class. John Edwards is gone, and with it, all hopes for the poor to have anything to look forward to in this country.

If food stamps and unemployment benefits are not included in an economic stimulus package, why would I believe that the Democrats will fight to keep Medicaid funded when his Mighty Emperor Pissypants wants to cut it?

Bush senses the weakness and lack of populism in our party brought on by the corporate DLC and their stranglehold on the party. He knows the battles he can win, and he takes them....every time.

17. The elderly & youth are "unnecessary eaters". We've got to get RID OF THEM somehow!
After all, lowering the population will help protect the environment (GOP version of ecological responsibility). :eyes:
:sarcasm:

13. Well, Sort Of
Models indicate that excessive governmental borrowing has a drag effect on the economy. So, this is sort of a rock and hard place. Cut GS and the economy slows. Don't cut it and continue to borrow, and the economy slows.

The only solution at the onset of a recession is to raise revenues in ways that it has the least effect on buying power.

Of course, we here know what that means, but Silverspoon sure ain't going to do that!

9. That doesn't make sense. Inflation is pretty high when you factor in food and energy costs.
A freeze in spending levels is really a cut in real spending terms, cuts to education, cuts to health care, to infrastructure repairs/maintenance, etc.

11. It's political. We're going to run a huge deficit this year (maybe $400 billion).
This way, if the dems don't make the cuts, and hopefully they don't, he can blame the deficit on them.

20. He's already cut so many programs to the bone. I can't imagine what's left
having an impact. It is truly horrifying what he has done to this country. I continually feel like I'm reading about a dictator in a banana republic somewhere who continues to put the screws to the people. We have no idea....
