Bill O'Reilly Is A Sexual Predator
We make a lot of jokes on DU about the O'Reilly sexual harassment case. I'll admit, I've made my share of falafel jokes, too. But when you really read the transcripts of Bill's conversations with Miss Mackris one thing becomes very clear: Bill O'Reilly is a sexual predator.

O'Reilly didn't simply make awkward advances to a co-worker. He threatened her. Consider this statement he made to Miss Mackris, "If any woman ever breathed a word I'll make her pay so dearly that she'll wish she'd never been born. I'll rake her through the mud, bring up things in her life and make her so miserable that she'll be destroyed."

Sexual harassment, while not as severe as rape or molestation, is a form of sexually predatory behavior. Men who harass women to the extent that O'Reilly harassed Mackris do not do it despite the fact that it makes the woman uncomfortable, they do it BECAUSE it makes the woman uncomfortable. They don't get off on the dirty language, they get off on the fact that this language is making the woman feel degraded. They get off on the fact that the women feels powerless. This is another aspect of the case that becomes clear when you read the transcripts and get past the stupid falafel stuff.

No Democrat should ever agree to an interview with this man. If he requests an interview, he should be told clearly and forcefully that that his request is denied because he is a sexual predator. It sickens me that any Democrat would give this piece of scum the time of day.

2. O' reilly is an enemy of the state imo. and....
...now along with my hate he earns my disgust. People like this belong in treatment, behind bars where they can't prey on folks.

3. I think he's also a pedophile, at least mentally.
Look at how "hot and bothered" (ewwwww, sorry about that) he's gotten over the pictures of Mylie Cyrus in Vanity Fair. Sick, sick, sick!

:puke: :puke: :puke:

5. Maybe more than just mentally.
There was another interesting statement in the Mackris transcripts. O'Reilly bragged about a "girl" at a Thailand sex show who showed him things that "blew his mind."

8. Good question.
I think one reason he is still on the air is that people don't think sexual harassment is a serious offense. They see it as just dirty talk and don't understand that it isn't about sex, it's about domination and degradation. The type of behavior that O'Reilly exhibited is very different than some clueless guy that makes unwanted passes at a co-worker. There are several times in the transcript where you can see that he was trying to embarrass and shame Mackris and that her discomfort excited him.

It doesn't surprise me that Fox keeps him on the air but I can't understand why he isn't completely shunned by everyone else. I was furious when Oprah had him on her show. She has done a couple of really good shows on sexual harassment so I couldn't believe she would have a sexual harasser as a guest.

9. I loved when David Letterman had O'Reilly on his show
so Letterman could make fun of him.

15. Yes, me too.
I usually get very upset when O'Reilly is a guest on shows and is shown respect by the interviewer but at least Dave treated him with the disdain that he deserves. I only wish that he would have brought up the sexual harassment case.

I don't understand why he isn't asked about that by every interviewer. I know he says he can't talk about it because of conditions of the settlement but he can be asked about it and he should be. Over and over again, every time he does an interview, it should be brought up.

7. I know it's hard to generalize, but this doesn't seem to be an uncommon trait among right-wingers.
Seems to me that sexual predation goes hand in hand with economic predation, and that both go hand in hand with an overall authoritarian (or authoritarian-worshipping) personality.

10. Correct. It's not as though one's primary pathology doesn't impact the entire thought process

13. I couldn't agree more
I stopped taking my local newspaper because they refused to stop using his column in their paper. He should have been fired. I am disappointed with anyone who gives him any credence by appearing with him or responding to him. But there are two justice systems in this country right now and we need to make some major changes in that area. So much to do so little time to do it.

14. Good for you!
More people should do what you did. Stop getting the paper if he is a columnist, boycott his advertisers, etc, and give his sexually predatory behavior as the reason. I can't believe that bookstores carry his books for kids.

I sent an email to The Center for Missing and Exploited Children when he was scheduled to give a speech at one of their events. This was shortly after his remarks that Shawn Hornbeck had a good deal going with his molester and they must have gotten a lot of emails like mine because they canceled his speech. I was glad they canceled him but he never should have been invited in the first place, considering his history.
