I have never created a vanity post.. but someone critized me for my name : Jesus
My name is Jesus Jeff ( and lastname). I am mixed race (White and Latino)


Someone is General Discusion Primary made fun of my name. I Love it when people say stuff like, "Well Jesus said it so I agree."

But this person said, "You realize you are arguing with a person who calls himself Jesus".


I am fucking sick of it.


Err on the side of caution.


I'm not kidding or being dramatic. It really hurt my feelings.

I used to work with a guy names Jesus...........cool dude! He was the first graduating teacher I ever trained and the kids thought his name was funny at first, but after about 2 weeks they wanted to call him "Jeez." He let them and I think it stuck when he got his first teaching job.

one time, a perfect stranger was making fun of me after someone at a retail counter called it out.
This guys was being a real jerk, and was maybe 5 foot 3 and 160 soaking wet.

I let him go on for a while, and then I said, "I'm 6'4", 300 lbs. and you're making fun of my name. Do you want to rethink your position?"

For many reasons:

1) My first name is Jesus (even though I go by Jeff)

2) I have RAGE about our country... it's a mess that only a Dem can fix (Hillary or Barack)

3) I love the song.

"Jesus" is a common Latino name, and one that is not to be teased about. Sadly, realize that the rude comments say more about the posters and their lack of cultural knowledge than anything about you.

When I was a child, there was a Western on TV called "Rawhide". One of the cowboys was named "Hay-Soos"--yes, that's how they spelled it out in the credits, because the producers would be afraid that Anglos would be offended. Geez. It takes only a rudimentary knowledge of Spanish to understand how to pronounce the name.

It's against DU rules to call out other posters or make fun of them. Down at the lower left-hand side of every post is a little button that says "alert." Press that button and you can send an email to the moderators alerting them to a post that breaks DU rules. The mods will take care of it.

Every now and then, someone uses a crystal ball to to guess what REP means - and it's never my full, legal name. My real name is long, has a hyphen and most people can't pronounce it, so Ive been using m initials since before I started posting here, yet every now and ten I get accused of being a secret Republican. I thought of the song right away, of course, and thought somebody would have to pretty humor-impaired to dis you for that. Now, knowing it's actually your name...that person just sounds ignorant. It's a totally common Latino name, and it's no weirder than "Mohammed" being a very popular Muslim name, which it is. Anglo hangups, now, those are weird.
