10. I am waiting on KO and anxious to see
how much coverage he give it. We shouldn't jump to the seemingly obvious conclusion to quickly. As Thom Hartman said on his show today, someone faced with a 50 yr prison sentence and little chance of getting released before you die would understandable be despondent.
Having said that, I always jump to the obvious conclusion. This "suicide" is very suspicious.

that she had a "narcissistic personality" and that hanging was normal for someone who would put "death before dishonor".

..... hmmmmm .... DC Madame? Hooker to the rich and famous? Nope, its sexy enough.

Maybe not enough intrigue. Hmmmm ....... lists of names and numbers. Senators and titans of power. Nope, it has intrigue.

Not enough pretty women ........... Hmmmmmm .... Palfrey herself - very handsome for 52. Brandy Britton, her "co-suicider" was pretty. So were the immunized witnesses. Nope. Plenty of pulchritude.

I wonder why the story died so fast ............ I wonder .............

38. Someone With Names And Other Dirt Has To Come Out
A friend of mine today said that women don't hang themselves...too messy...pills or carbon monoxide in the garage are more "ladylike". Just the act of tying the belt around requires a lot more strength and agility than most 52 year old women possess.

What's needed here is for someone to come out with more specifics...a person had been with her in her last days...also someone who has her list or some other piece of this puzzle.

The interesting part will be the notes that were left behind. How many? What did they say? Get those out in the public and this story could get some legs. Right now, the corporate media will stay away thanks to all the tin-foil hatting they've seen on the blogs today (Abrams mentioned her death and then the "conspriacy nuts").

and as mentioned by a news anchor goes into Bush Administration ---

This is a big fat message to everyone connected with the Cunningham case to shut up ---

and that they're not going to have any truth told by a Madam ---

Meanwhile, dumb people watching the TV for "news" are going to question any of this?

45. Dumb People Don't Watch The News
They watch American Idol and ET and Home Shopping and Extreme Makeover...escapism, not news. It's a fishbowl world unto its own and is divided between those who "report" and those who "consume". The "report" part is predominately the media elite inside the beltway that are wedded to power and access and "conventional widsom". They feel they direct the "news" or are an important part of it. Then there's the "consumers"...a vast majority who have been tuning out on the messages these propagandists have been forcing down our throats. Polls show over and over how unpopular the war is, how on the wrong track this country is, how extremely unpopular the squatter in the White House is...so the people aren't dumb...just those who "report".

Cheers...

49. Not much there according to Larry Flynt
Edited on Fri May-02-08 11:49 AM by Mike Daniels
Vitter was the only one who he felt was worthy of exposing and that was only because of Vitter's "family values" positions.

If Republicans who didn't come off as a holier than thou types or who weren't family values politicians partook in Palfrey's service who gives a shit? Apparently Flynt didn't. Be happy for that because if exposing people who solicited the service was Flynt's main approach by his own admission there would have been way more Dems on the list than Republicans.

Palfrey herself indicated to a reporter that there weren't many names that would be known to the general public so there goes the "blow your socks off" scandal potential.

Flynt's and Palfrey's comments come from http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,353876,00.html

51. The Tinfoil Hats Are Out In Spades...
I am dubious about the speculation that's been swirling around here...but, dare I say, that's par for the course. I've felt that if Paltry had a bigger fish than Vitter somehow the name would have leaked...especially if Larry Flynt had seen the list and didn't think there was anyone worth going after.

The slippery slope many ignore here is that Paltrey was using her names as a form of extortion or leverage to nullify her own actions. Many here couldn't get enough of some raw meat being thrown out...if it had an (R) attached to it, but I think the reaction would be a lot different had Eliot Spitzer been one of her clients. Sometimes one needs to take a step back rather than jumping at anything that moves funny.

52. It's utterly unbelieveable and if you look at FR it's the mirror image of DU
Edited on Fri May-02-08 01:06 PM by Mike Daniels
Of course, their take is that she was Arkancided which is no less/more inane than the stuff flying around here.

I find it telling that Flynt, who would normally be first in line to take shots at Republicans, isn't even implying any sort of definite Republican involvement. By his voluteering that there were more Dems on the list than Republicans it seems that he's not necessarily discounting anyone's possible involvement.

I agree that Palfrey was hoping that the threat of naming names would scare someone. She, Flynt and any number of reporters had ample time to find or name a big fish and the best they could do was Vitter. Flynt was aiming only to expose hypocrisy and the other names were people who the general public could care less about.

There are dirty people on both sides of the political party spectrum and given that both parties had people on Palfrey's client list, who is to say for sure that something didn't happen? That said, I think Palfrey realized that her gambits either failed or were out of gas and having nothing else to bargin with took her own life.

43. Well, willing killers often aren't officially "pros" it seems because there are
a lot of mistakes --- which is unimportant because they count on the cover-up and they have the power to do it.

On the other hand, they get the job done -- tho sometimes it seems to take more than one try!

There has long and very obviously been a number of teams clearing the way for the fascists to come
thru. They may not always know it specifically -- though they may sometimes directly call for it ---
but it's been happening.

Here in America as well as around the world.

Political assassinations have now been joined by corruption of justice ---
from Supreme Court to the DOJ/AGs ---
