Bush sets record for highest dissapproval rating in the history of presidential polling (Truman era)

What took so long?

WASHINGTON DC (CNN) -- A new poll suggests that President Bush is the most unpopular president in modern American history.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Thursday indicates that 71 percent of the American public disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president.

"No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president's disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director.

"Bush's approval rating, which stands at 28 percent in our new poll, remains better than the all-time lows set by Harry Truman and Richard Nixon <22 percent and 24 percent, respectively>, but even those two presidents never got a disapproval rating in the 70s," Holland said. "The previous all-time record in CNN or Gallup polling was set by Truman, 67 percent disapproval in January 1952."

1. I think that the Clinton '92 campaign said it best .... "it's the economy, stupid"
they are trying with all of their might to hold up the stock market. If it crashes, the sky is the limit for his disapproval.

4. How funny would it be if his approval rating is in the teens when he leaves office?
:D

2. It sure took the majority to finally figure him out!
I think all DUers knew he was the worst a long time ago. I honestly figured that the polls were rigged when they kept saying he had a 30% approval! Maybe even the polsters are giving up and stopping the fix.

3. "71% of the American public disapprove of Bush as president.
What a sad indictment of the electorate, the 71% of an American public that could justifiably be said to be the most unpopular gaggle of enablers in modern American history.
A pox on them and their president!

9. Bush's low approval rating was why Cheney could never run for president

11. What bothers me is that in 2004 Bush was very honest about his intentions

and people still went for him (because...OMG...Kerry was an Elistist!) and now they're complaining.

In a year's time, if Mccain wins, the same people who voted for Mccain in the GE will be complaining about the continuing war in Iraq, the increasing cost of healthcare, and the crap economy, despite the fact that mccain has said this will happen.

They screw themselves over with their vote and then have the nerve to complain.

I'm sorry if let yourself be swayed by republican propganda, then you deserve whatever you get.
