This is HUGH!!11!! Republican blogger has Al Franken's Senate campaign reeling
EAGAN, Minn. - Senate candidate Al Franken wants to talk about jobs, health care and global warming. Republican blogger Michael Brodkorb wants to talk about Franken's failure to pay all his income taxes on time.

Guess what everyone is talking about?

From the kitchen table in his tranquil suburban neighborhood, Brodkorb for the last year has used his blog "Minnesota Democrats Exposed" to launch a furious political assault on Franken. He's labeled the former comedian and liberal commentator a "mean-spirited and un-Minnesotan" candidate who's running a "desperate and ridiculous" campaign.

That's routine stuff in the world of political blogging, but in the last two months Brodkorb has scored two direct hits that have the Franken campaign reeling. Brodkorb scooped the traditional media by detailing extensive bookkeeping problems in New York and California that ultimately prompted Franken, this week, to pay about $70,000 in back taxes to 17 states.

The stories have knocked Franken off balance as he prepares to take on Sen. Norm Coleman, in what's expected to be one of the most expensive and toughest-fought U.S. Senate races this year.

1. Franken hasn't helped himself with the clips I've seen of him on TV

Whenever the local news media interviews him, he has this hangdog look about him. He's been trying so hard to show that he's the "serious" Al Franken now. If anything merits a joke, it's when your accountant does your taxes wrong, but Serious Al doesn't make jokes. Sigh.

* * *

Just had to add this:

(Brodkorb) said he believes in "the fundamentals of being a Republican - less government, individual freedom, personal responsibility, strong national defense."

What a freaking joke! We have more government under Bush, less freedom, no personal accountability, and a national defense that started a war based on lies that's cost the lives of more than 4000 American soldiers, along with our respect and influence across the world. Anybody who can say the kind of crap Brodkorb is saying with a straight face deserves to have a bucket of cold water thrown on them.

7. He's done straightfaced sarcasm for so long
it's hard to tell when he's being serious. IMO that will be a challenge to overcome for him.

But Norm Coleman? If he can't beat that asshole...

2. Did he pay the social security taxes
for his nanny, gardener, etc...? sarcasm

So he missed making payments to a couple of states. He paid the money but just to the wrong state. Why can't the states figure it out and leave him alone!

8. You just have to file on time
You can always request an extension. As far as I know doing smart things is not unAmerican. How many liberal blogs are out there. Why aren't any of the really good liberal blogs that have actual information about Rethugs ever in the news? Liberal media hahahahaha.

9. Brodkorb is an unbelievable tool
He runs a website called "Minnesota Democrats Exposed" (I am proud to say that one of my DU posts once upset him). Currently, there are several posters out at MDE who are outraged that Democrats are making lewd comments about Laurie (Mrs. Senator Weasel) Coleman's product "Blo and Go" (really - check the thread in the Minnesota Forum). They are shocked that anyone could attack a wife and mother like that.
