Enough with the Doomsaying and Hysteria, people!

Statements like "The fix is in, we'll lose 2008!", "They'll set up a dictatorship!", and "We'll be broken back to pre-industrial status by peak oil and global warning" don't do any goddamned good.

Get off your butts and FIGHT! Some quick examples...

Don't like the guy representing you, even (especially?) if he's a Blue Dog Dem? Find someone who can run against him in the next primary!

Got a corrupt Republican in your state/district/local offices? Take a good, hard look at his past, and go monstering -- find all the dirt you can on him and hound him with questions about every time he makes a public appearance! They don't have to be nice questions, either!

Sick of the mainstream media? Got something to say that they ain't covering -- like, say, election fraud? Have a digital video camera? Digital video sites like YouTube are the wave of the future -- run your own broadcast!

Worried about the energy troubles? Get on the phone with the car and oil companies -- make it clear that hybrids and electrics are what the public wants in cars, and solar and wind are what they want in electricity! A good line: "Listen, you stupid bastards, whichever company really jumps on this first is going to rake in profits even you guys wouldn't believe!" (Don't tell them we're going to tax the shit out of them and put the oil companies' chief muckity-mucks on trial, though. ;) )

Disgusted by the wealth disparity? Print a broadsheet with a message like this: "Back in the 50s-70s, people could work minimum wage jobs, have a decent standard of living, and still send their kids to college. It's no coincidence that taxes on the richest of the rich back then were bordering on 100%, and not a single corporation offshored! If their profit all goes to an honest government, they'll stop screwing the little folks over. Look what we've got now -- the rich get to rake in ridiculous profits, pay 30% taxes only on the stuff they can't find a loophole out of...and you're having to struggle to make an honest living! Is that fair?" Slap a few hundred of those up around town, get the message out. Take maybe 2-3 hours.

We've all got lives -- everybody doesn't have to fight every day. Just some of the time. Put in a few hours a week on something, have hope, and we'll win 2008. And with a little luck, we'll see the criminals of this administration and their collaborators in Big Business tried, convicted, and hanged for high treason against the United States of America.

Anyone else remember the "protect America against all enemies, foreign and domestic" clause in most oaths of office? :evilgrin:
