What major newspaper in America isn't a right wing shit rag?
I swear to christ, every newspaper in this country has gone stupid. From the stories reported right down to the letters to the editor. :wtf:

Are there any decent newspapers left?

2. Ours (SFChron) is not bad.
And www.SFGate.com is the 5th largest whatever (I never know what to call those things) in the country.

Except for that whore, Debra J. Saunders, anyway.

3. Newspapers? Not really.
NYT, WaPo, and LAT will occasionally surprise us with investigative reporting that sheds light on abuses by the powerful in our society. But, of course, this is not without mountains of shit-raggery in comparison. I think we can all appreciate NYT's reporting on the Pentagon's domestic propaganda program, albeit with an omission or two. But then again it was this very same program that made NYT a powerful megaphone of government lies that took us to war.

4. Plenty of them.
Despite the blistering outrage directed at the major papers, the NY Times and the WaPo produce some reliably good work amid a lot of dross. I think it's inaccurate to entirely dismiss them as "right wing shit rags."

I think one of the best papers in the country right now is the St. Petersburg Times in Florida -- not coincidentally, it's owned by the Poynter Institute, a journalism school and resource center, as opposed to being owned by a big business.

5. I'll give a slight nod
to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. They have a balanced editorial page, not all right, not all left and they print every conceivable viewpoint on their letters section. And their non-editorial, non-news sections are top-notch.

8. For a few months after 8/29/05
the paper I used to call the "Cat Box Liner", back when, somehow transformed itself into a Pulitzer-worthy paper covering the region's crisis with the aplomb of an NYT or WaPo.

Then, like seemingly everything else in the city, it slowly slipped back into the old ways. (sigh).

9. Are you kidding? They're great "message multipliers"!
Welcome to the Pentagon's/MIC's full spectrum dominance information warfare. What do yo think those lying, shitbag, war mongering generals were doing?

And the NY Times? The journalists are just window dressing for its true mission. Judith Miller didn't even report to her editor. I guess their communications went like this, JM: "Mr. Cheney would like ____ inches of the front page Tuesday." The Pentagon hates us for our freedoms.
