because my Texas ID had expired.

I was well past 50 years old at the time.

I thought the bartender was joking. She said that she could not sell a drink to anyone who didn't have a valid ID.

So my companion bought me a drink and the bitch bartender took it away from me and threatened to call Security.

Hell, I have gray hair and beard.

It was the fact that my ID was past its expiration date that did it.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court upheld an Indiana law requiring voters to show photo identification. Many Democrats and civil rights groups have opposed the law, saying it is a thinly veiled effort to suppress elderly, poor and minority voters, those most likely to lack proper ID and who tend to vote for Democrats.
