Thanks for nothing DNC / Louisiana
While I'm exceedingly happy that a Democrat took the seat to represent La. in congress for out sixth district, I'm very disappointed that our first district candidate lost out in the special election this Friday.

Gilda Reed was a rare candidate. a polio survivor, mother of seven children, and a holder of a P.H.D. in psychology. Louisiana needs its best and brightest NOW. Dr. Reed received not a DIME from the DNC nationals.

Republican and insurance company yes man Steve Scalise won the election by a gros margin by simply talking about "conservative values" and spending money like it was goin out of style.

This dis heartened me greatly. This is what happens when people "cling to their bibles and guns". The wrong people are elected and fat cat bad corporate friendly policy is made.

Dr. Reed, you are a great woman and i wish you would run again. It was an honor putting your signs in the ground. Thanks for trying for us.

1. DNC or DCCC?
It's usually the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that funds Congressional races.

2. Here's the guy you want to email: Rahm Emanuel

Your DCCC head... He has a BAD habit of NOT supporting progressive Democratic candidates. He is doing the same in Florida (24) right now. There, he is supporting Suzanne Kosmas over Clint Curtis (voter fraud advocate) in the primary.

In an interesting development, former FL state representative Suzanne Kosmas has been urged to run in FL-24 by the Democratic elite. She will apparently face off against Clint Curtis in the Democratic primary. As many of you know, Curtis had been given a deadline of 9/30 by the DCCC to raise $250,000, or else they would appoint someone to run against Tom Feeney in FL-24. Well, while Curtis's fund-raising efforts have been successful and his base enthusiastic, Curtis did not come near the $250K mark. And so the DCCC (in what can only be described real slap in the face to Curtis, who battled Feeney in 2006 with no party support whatsoever) true to their word, found a candidate to throw into the mix... http://clint-curtis.blogspot.com/2007/10/suzanne-kosmas-enters-fl-24-race.html

5. Too Bad Rahm Doesn't Head The DCCC
It's Chris Van Hollen. Gotta bitch he's the man...or even better, if you have a bitch about Florida, call Debbie Wasserman-Shultz who has been supporting repugnicans in South Florida.

Maybe, just maybe, the folks to blame are the voters...that 1st District race in LA was close. However, they DID pick up a red seat in the 6th. Guess people here expect magicians.

3. Sorry to mention this, but what chance did you think Reed had?

I think the DCCC was wise with their money in choosing between these two races.

4. She had almost the same as the dem who won in the 6th district.
Just as many bible thumpers there as here.............She was hung out to dry. Scalise is going to do a term or two in this seat and then go for governor after Jindal is picked up in the next election cycle as someones VP. (mark my words)

They may have made a wise decision economic wise but it was a huge snub to New Orleans.....our area needs it the most.

6. Sorry, but the 6th district post-Katrina provides much different hopes for a Dem than the 1st
district. And the GOP is not about to put a non-caucasian on the ticket.

She wasn't hung out to dry, she never had a chance to get into single digits.

7. Don't forget who Cazayoux whupped up on in the 6th
Woody Jenkins is gutter slime who would have posed a stiff challenge to Patrick McHenry (R-Involved in Murderous Love Triangle) as The Absolute Worst Member of Congress(TM). It was just as important to keep Woody a private citizen as it was to get a Dem in there.

Sad that someone like Reed hasn't yet found a way to put her talents to work as the recovery goes on, though. Then again, obviously, neither have I...

8. Jenkins
I'm glad at least woody is gone. I just wish Reed would have been given SOMETHING. If you only fight the fights you are sure you will win then you play right into the republicans territory. They consolidate power...thts wht theyre great at....they dont fight uphill. Still Jenkins wont be there to screw homeowners over when the next storm comes. Lucky them. Sorry us.

9. Louisiana right wing trend
This is bothersome. With the exeption of the sixth district. We have Jindal now and Scalise (governor in waiting). This seems to go against the tide in the rest of the country. Wont know for sure until after Nov. how the cards will be stacked.

I worry about this whole creationism in schools thing as well. Guy frm Bogalusa introduced it. Think its still in committee. It may prob. just end up getting struck down but the fact that its there shows we arent making progress.
