22. I am not defending this man
He is a Senator from Arizona, that is sufficient title for him. Just as I use the term Senator Clinton, or Senator Obama. Much to your dismay I also refer to the current White House occupant as President Bush. When I was growning up I was taught that elders and seniors are addressed by their title.
Sorry that you find this offensive, but that is the way it is. I do not see much point in the practice of some users of this forum to engage juvenile name calling. JMO

Call him as you wish, but if you think he'd make a good leader for our great nation (once and future, anyway), do it somewhere else, okay?

Edited on Thu May-08-08 09:11 AM by El Pinko
I hold Bush in profound contempt, so I call him POS Bush or just POS.

I never call him anything else - well, maybe "sonofabitch" now and then.

I used to call him "Dumbya", but that was before he became a mass-murderer.

For now, McCain's nickname is "The Asshole".

Sliming a decorated war veteren is what they do, not what we do.

Attack his policies and his record, let him hang himself in the debates.

23. Telling the truth about someone is not sliming him.
McCain has chosen the life of a politician. (Isn't this what he fought for? The freedom to choose his own fate?) He is also an adult and I would think he could withstand some scrutiny.

No one is forcing him to sidle up to his Republican masters. The purpose of this thread is to find a way to remind people how similar he is to the current administration. If saying he is willingly adopting nearly every position of this failed bunch "sliming" him, then I say slime away; he's earned it.

42. Here's the way I see it.
I have to proclaim that I despise the Bush cabal with a cold intensity that seems to be limitless. I am SO ready at any moment to issue forth the most vile epithets I am able to conceive. And the "Bush Cabal" includes McCain.

But noonwitch and Thothmes have very valid points.

So you see, I agree with you wholeheartedly, but they're right, too.

Cheers.

55. Agreed.
We don't have to stoop to the GOP's tactics, but scrutinizing things is not a GOP tactic.

McCain may have been in the military, he may have relatives who were also in the military, those relatives may have and may be serving honorably in the military, but he dishonors his own service with his rejection of the Webb G.I. bill, his silence during the swiftboating of John Kerry and his blind obedience to his party's masters.

To say that is not disrespectful.
