7. Unless you are in your mid to late 50's or in your 60's you probably won't...
know who Eddy Arnold is...

He did great songs like:

Welcome to my world
Tom Dooley
The End of the world
Then you can tell me goodbye

And many, many more...

10. Did he ever write a song that didn't include the
word "world" in it? I did like him though, he was very popular back in the 60's.

Not to take anything away from his death; I'm sure I would have heard of him if I were into country music, but the "Tennessee Plowboy" sounds like the moniker for a porn star!!

Edited on Thu May-08-08 02:55 PM by Herdin_Cats
A voice like melted butter, and he made it look so easy.

His music makes me think of sitting with my Grandparents listening to their old records. Eddie Arnold was my grandpa's favorite. And for good reason.

It is said he took country music "city". I remember his singing "and I love you so."...nothing country about that.

Also "welcome to my world"

36. That video reminds me of when I was a teenager in Texas; we
would be driving down a Texas road and one of our favorite things was to slam on the breaks, jump out of the car and go over and hug one of the cows like those in the video. Another favorite thing was if we saw a turtle crossing the road, we'd slam on the breaks, someone would jump out and carry the turtle to the other side. A good time was had by all. Cattle Call is one of my favorite Eddie Arnold songs.

up in Heaven. OK I'm an atheist but she wasn't and she LOVED Eddie Arnold. Even during the period that I hated country music I still appreciated Eddie and his voice. I can hear him singing "Cattle Call" right now.

Super under-stated but first class sound and presentation. That wide-open sound just doesn't get done anymore, and it's even more impressive nowadays that we don't have to hear the hiss, scratches and turnatble rumble of the old days.

Vacuum tubes, Eddie Arnold and digital sound - they're made for each other.
