Pain at the pump......
I just got back from visiting friends in Grand Blanc, about an hour north of Detroit (and about 40 minutes north of the Detroit suburb I live in). I stopped to refuel at the Speedway near their house on my way back home.....gulp.....$3.89 per gallon.

I know I'll get no sympathy from my friends in the SF Bay Area, but I have nevah, evah, nevah paid that much for le gaz. OUCH!!!!

:hurts:

2. Yesterday when I came home from work, it was $3.45 here in
south central Minnesota; this morning, when I went to work, it was $3.65. $.20 fuckin' cents overnight.

4. I am in the process of a cross-country driving trip.
I keep on seeing a 50 cent difference in the same state just a few miles apart.

Gas was around $3.49 in Missouri along I-70, which was what I paid when I refueled in Columbia, which is in the middle of the state. Around St. Louis, at the eastern border of the state, gas was $3.99. I saw the exact same 50 cent difference in Tennessee. This was yesterday and the day before.

I knew starting out that the cost of gas, even for my relatively fuel-efficient Honda Civic, would be a large amount, but a 50 cent swing -- what percent is that? I don't have a calculator handy and can't do it in my head -- seems quite large.
