2. They've been having some issues

I am sure they are working on it... but essentially the DNS address, what tells your browser, hi, we're here... has been going awry.

Give them time, they'll nail it, and thank god it didn't happen on Tuesday

7. I saw a thread on this very subject by another poster earlier today.

Sorry- it appeared, and then vanished- but it was about wonky DU behavior over the past couple days.

Apparently, DU has been undergoing very specific and intentional changes over the past few days. This is also why we have been at Level 1 at 2AM lately.

It's an intentional service slowdown instead of a two-day or weeklong outage. It's all good.

Behind the scenes are some folks who live and die with this place 24/7...making sure the servers and software are functioning so people can get out here and bitch and vent. It's like having a child...you can never sleep at night and can't control all that goes on.

At one time I operated a website...with a message board that at the time was extrememly busy (nowhere near what DU handles today). My days were full of monitoring posts, writing content and then dealing with an ISP and server system that never failed to go down when traffic was the busiest...then came the email flood of people pissed they couldn't get in. My hats are off to Elad, Skinner and the others here who have lived with this unruly child for all these years.
