The Stories...

The 68-year-old fisherman tried to explain how a cyclone swept away his entire family, but could utter only a few words before he was overcome by tears.

"All my 28 family members have died. I am the only survivor," sobbed Thein Myint, whose flimsy house was torn apart when Cyclone Nargis sent powerful waves surging from the sea."...

"Only two of my children survived," Htay Maung told an Associated Press reporter who reached the town via car from the main city of Yangon, a trip of more than 100 miles that took about five hours because of flooding and downed bridges.

Survivors spoke of entire villages being obliterated by the cyclone, which struck May 3 with 120-mph winds that unleashed 12-foot-high storm surges and left vast expanses of the densely populated delta submerged under flood waters....

The Duggar kids planned a big Mother's Day surprise for their mom this year. But the surprise was on them when Michelle Duggar announced on the TODAY Show that they were soon to welcome an 18th sibling.

“We’re expecting!” the happy mother told TODAY co-host Meredith Vieira and the entire Arkansas clan. “Number 18!"...
And baby, due around New Year’s Day, would make 20....(that makes her 2 wks pg?)

How to help, where to send donations, etc:

Myanmar: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24488610/
The following aid agencies are accepting contributions to help those affected by the cyclone in Myanmar.

Nearly 22,000 people were killed and more than 41,000 others were missing in the wake of the cyclone on Saturday. With the death toll expected to mount and as many as 1 million possibly left homeless, the international community was poised to deliver aid to the military-ruled country, which normally keeps out most foreign officials and restricts their access inside the country. Private donations are also being accepted.

The list is from InterAction, a coalition of aid agencies, which can be contacted at InterAction at (202) 667-8227 or http://www.interaction.org/

5. Please explain
I'm not sure what these two news stories have to do with each other.

The Myanmar incident is one of the the most horrific natural disasters to visit upon any nation in our lifetime and the Duggars are welcoming the 18th child they are able to love, support and educate on their own without any outside assistance.

Please make the connection between these two stories more obvious for those of us without your keen sense.

Thanks.

Indeed, what is important? A fundie family procreating, or one of the most horrific natural disasters in our lifetime? Obviously the second. So, time out from gossipy news (omg, another kid!) and here is a way to help the Burmese. And no, you don't have to point out that this is another duggar post, that I am perpetuating that, I get it and know it and all that.

Also, just posting "here is how to help Myanmar/Burmese" gets few people looking, while a sexier post gets more looking and, maybe, donating.

Thank you for noticing my keen sense. I try to hone it daily.
