I dreamed of John Edwards last night.
We were driving on opposites sides of a four lane highway with a narrow strip down the middle. Probably a boulevard judging by how slow the cars were moving. Our vehicles were in the inside lane of our respective sides of the road. I was a passenger in my car with hubby at the wheel and I saw Edwards driving his with someone in his car, could have been Al Gore. Maybe it was the two of them in the same car, but I became uncharacteristically goonie. In my dream I was suddenly driving the car to get a good vantage point to stick my head out the window and yell, "Hey, John, we're your greatest fans!" He smiled at me, but as his car moved away, he seemed to have a puzzled look on his face, like he was saying, "Does this strange woman realize I'm not running for president anymore?"

I just kept looking back as his car moved away, just feeling happy for being able to express the sentiment.

So, what do ya'll think? Who can interpret dreams?

2. Interesting. Could have been a wish fulfillment dream, or...
it could have been about something else. I have a feeling Edwards will be involved in the next administration. A lot.

3. It says something about how your hopes for Edwards
are tied to the status of Al Gore as the default philosopher of the Democratic Party. You put a critical mass of our party's brain trust in one car.

I too, think that Edwards represents the zeitgeist of the Democratic Party, and to a large extent, the American voter.

Going the opposite direction? Maybe, that or just being in an attitude where you could see them in the other car. You might have been frustration that they are not actively in the fray (headed in your direction ).

INteresting dream.

4. I did feel something in that dream that I didn't mention.
I knew that John Edwards wasn't running for president. I knew everything that I'm aware of today. I think driving in opposite lanes AND the narrow strip that separated us is a symbol. Probably an indication that there is a barrier between us. Probably different social classes and circumstances. In other words, with the exception of those moments when the traffic slows down enough to exchange a few words, we will have few moments to really communicate with each other.

But, despite that inflexible stringent barrior (remember, one can't just hop out of their car and start chatting on the median strip in the middle of traffic), I did feel what felt like comraderie, and I suspect it's because we're both fighting the good fight, and, maybe that's all we'll have because success is unlikely for either of us. So it's just the power of our convictions that binds us?

5. This is a good interpretation of that dream!
I also wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that many Edwards supporters feel that Gore should have chosen him to be his running mate in 2000. Gore was close to doing so from what I've read. The fact that they were together in the same car, headed a different direction, might mean that they have chosen to do something together that is more meaningful than just having the job title of 'president'. So, while we are worrying about who will be president, they are working to solve the problems that the candidates are just talking about.

I agree with you on your assessment of Edwards. I've always felt he represented the soul of our party.

9. That's a thought.
Both have fought a very public fight and are now moving onto the next area where they can make a difference. I, on the other hand, am still busy trying to get to my destination, and once that's reached, will probably soon follow in their trail?

in the middle).

On edit. When Kerry was running in 2004 I had a dream that I met him when we were young. It was an idyllic scene on the edge of woods. I fell in love with the younger Kerry, returning war vet in this dream. He then departed and I woke up feeling abandoned and so sad.

13. Speaking of politician dreams...
I once dreamt that Nixon (who was still alive at that time) and Kissinger arrived at Wimbledon Park tube station in London and dropped dead on the platform! There was a huge commotion, with the press and emergency services all swooping down.

I also dreamt that I was elected to (the British) Parliament as a Liberal Democrat, and Parliament was meeting on an aeroplane. I was running all over the aeroplane looking for the party leader and couldn't find him, not helped by the fact that everyone was speaking German!

14. Amazing dreams!

When Nixon died, I could not understand why our flags were at half mast. Meanwhile, Kissinger is still influencing our foreign policies here.

When you had the last one, as an MP, did you know about the ties that some British politicians had with Germany before WWII? Just curious.

16. Yes, I knew about the British/German ties and appeasement, etc.
We all learn about that here, in school history lessons. I suspect, however, that the influence came more from the fact that I also learned in history that our royals are part-German, and that George I spoke German and never really bothered to learn English! I don't know why an aeroplane came into it, however!

Possibly one that stirred a sense of hope.

17. Nope. Not my type that way, even when I was single.
I liked guys with dark hair and lashes and hair that was allowed to grow in to retain a boyish appearance and skin color could be any shade. But, I married the guy who couldn't take his eyes off me when we talked. His eyes are blue.
