Scholarships--I used to hear this talk about lots of scholarship money going
unclaimed and unused every year.

I haven't heard that in a while. I wonder if it ever WAS true. One explanation I heard about this was that a lot of that scholarship money was limited to a certain population, such as your parent worked at ABC Company.

Anyone else's experiences?

1. The company my dad works for offers a small scholarship to the
children of employees who have worked there since 1970. This made my brother and I the only people eligible for it when we went to college. I believe the fund still exists and goes unused most years.. it's not huge but it's nothing to sneeze at, like $1500 a year.
