I went to visit her on Sunday before we went to Mr. smokey's mom's house. She told me she's in pain all the time because of the bed sore on her back and she's not sure how much more she can take. I feel so bad for her. But she's a trooper and does her physical therapy despite the pain. I just hope there aren't anymore setbacks for her, I'm not sure she'll be able to handle it and I honestly can't blame her. She's been through hell. :(

I hope she can keep her chin up and get the heck out of there. BTW, Arnica gel may be something she might try for her back. It's very healing and spirit raising.

The bed sore is bone deep, literally. When they debreeded it last week, they had to scoop out bone marrow. I think it's also contributing to the weakness in her legs.

That poor woman. Add some aloe to that order. :hug: I'll bet it has a great effect on other parts of her body. :-(

There should be some really good products on the market for wound care. I hope her doctor orders the best products for her care. She really needs someone very experienced in dealing with this on a day-to-day basis. MAybe someone could ask for a nurse that is board certified in this area. Depending on the size of the city, it could be difficult.

Thanks for the info, Ilsa. Bayonne hospital seems to be taking the bed sore seriously (which is more than I can say for Newark Beth Israel Hospital. They did a great job with the heart surgery (for a dissected aorta), but her after care was less than stellar.

Starting to recede right now.

A glass of wine and some aspirins are starting to kicked in.

When I was VERY ill years ago, I had a cocktail of drugs (scripts) so I do understand pain and pain management. "Whatever gets you through the night is all right", but I will say that if we'd get our heads out of our asses, decriminalize pot...then people could try to help themselves. If nothing else alleviate the adverse effects of the drugs required for treatment of disease.

I'm out of pot I don't partake drugs that impair me until the evening.

Pain management takes a lot out me sometimes.
Looks like I'm gonna have to walk up to the store for another bottle.
I'm finally getting some feeling back in my right arm.
Almost like a rush, when the pain subsides.

I need to get 5 vertebras fused and I don't want to do that.
There is a treatment in Spain that is ground breaking and allows total movement, without fusion
so if I can move over to Europe I can get that treatment since my kids are EU citizens.
But I can't afford to move now.

I had a misdiagnosed fungal disease (docs told me to get my affairs in order 'cause I would be dead within 6 months as they were convinced it wa bone cancer)...Anyhoo, I kept telling them that I knew I was really sick, but not quite that sick. I went to the doctor the first time when my youngest (now 13) was 5 months old. I was correctly diagnosed BY ACCIDENT when I was in the hospital for pain and he turned 13 months old while I was in the hospital!

Anyhoo, by the time that I was hospitalized, the fungal infection had eaten through the lung where it originated, destroyed 3 ribs on that side, invaded 3 vertebrae, and the pericardium. I had a long slog, but have 2 collapsed disks that are aggravating at times.

It would be nice if docs paid more attention to what women tell them, sigh.
