House GOPers stomping mad over prospects
From NBC's Mike Viqueira
Lot's of very glum faces among House GOP members this morning as they emerged from their weekly closed-door session. The political situation is not good, and they aren't even trying to deny it.

Rep. Tom Davis stomped on the concrete floor of the Capitol basement when asked by reporters about Republican fortunes at the moment.

"This is the floor," he said, by way of explanation. "We're below the floor."

Inside the meeting, Davis had just presented his colleagues with what he said was a 20-page memo outlining his prescription for a way out of this mess. He did not offer details to the press, yet did not spare the party and the president scathing criticism in his public comments.

"The president swallows the microphone every time he opens his mouth," Davis said.

4. Kudos to MISSISSIPPI
Elected a (D) to replace an (R) who was appointed by the Governor to replace Trent Lott and now that (R) senate seat is up for grabs. A former (D) Governor is running for Lott's old senate seat and the race is a tossup.

Extra credit for the (R's) - darth cheney showed up to campaign for the (R) who lost in northern Mississippi yesterday.

For the record, the new (D) rep is a centrist at best but compared to his (R) opponent he's a dope smoking wackjob liberal.

One Seat at a time, Sweet Jesus be mine.

10. Seemed to me that the rightwing nutjobs have lost control...
of the repuke party. Not only couldn't they anyone the religious right liked to run, they also couldn't stop McCain from getting nominated. We know he panders to the religious right and despite the fact that we know better....some people still view him as some sort of maverick. I think those things are why he got the repuke nomination.

I do think the repub party is undergoing some major changes because of how they've been operating over the last several years.

12. my bil now claims "Oh i've always been a libertarian" which is total bullshit.
my husband was on the phone with him and he said "Jesus Johnny, give me a fucking break, you voted for Bush twice so spare me the bull ok?" My bil drives me nuts, like i almost never talk to him, if he was a liberal i would feel the same way but he really is an asshat.

13. Bwahahahahahahahahahah!
They have only themselves to blame.

Remember the SOTU when these assholes all stood up and waved their purple fingers in the air? They were so smug and so self-confident. They were crowing about a "permanent republican majority" and treating the Democrats like they had mandate from the people and the Democrats would never again see power. Think again!

You live by the Bush and you die by the Bush.

14. Mr. Davis probably has the most uneviable job in America right now
On January 20, President Obama will have an even less enviable one: cleaning up the mess his predecessor, with an assist from congressional Republicans, left behind.
