Ancillary point to KO's brilliant Special Comment
The baldfaced pandering hack from Politico - and all of Politico itself - needs to be slammed big time for participating in that dog and pony show. The set-up questions were laughable. They make a mockery of the very concept of journalism. Oh, and YAHOO too.

The web is the only remaining outlet, besides maybe Countdown, for actual journalism. Its takeover by big business is a serious threat to our future. "Politico" was purportedly an alternative venue to the corporatist-owned newspapers and magazines. It is clear from this that it has no scruples whatsoever. I suppose there were bushie-written groundrules for the intrerview, and they figured they would do whatever it took to get the interview - probably desparate for the "legitimacy" of interviewing the POTUS. Well, bullshit. They traded whatever birthright they might have had as a legitimate news outlet for 30 pieces of shit.

I am giving Keith an Algae Award for his commentary, but somehow that sniveling, groveling "reporter" needs to be hung out to dry too. I forget his name but I THINK he actually used to do guest spots on Countdown.

1. Ding ding we have a winner
I was thinking about the thread posted here a while ago asking if Politico was right wing.

The questions were well set up and still that interview was a fucking disaster.

2. I met some of the Politico reporters at Take Back America last year
They're right wing alright. One of them was trying hard not to laugh while he was interviewing a blogger. It was pretty obvious.

3. Politico is corporate. It was set up by corporatists that "wanted in"
to the festering fertile febrile exploding creative wide-flung moist live-giving world of unfettered voice activated freedom.

They never, ever, "got it".

4. It was a farce
This president has to be coddled like a baby and it's so embarrassing.

The saddest part is that when a Democrat wins that office they will turn into pit bulls. I'm sick of it. The web IS the only alternative and that's why they want to emulate China's censorship; without regulation to halt this consolidated ownership mess we'll have a hard time stopping them.

What's an Algae Award?

5. See link below for Algae Awards
Edited on Thu May-15-08 07:51 AM by frogcycle
I haven't awarded any in quite a while - seems to be little of merit out there, and I didn't want to just have it be a KO fan site!

Ashley Banfield's was long overdue but well deserved. It also draws a lot of traffic to the site. lots of people google her name and hit her Algae Award. Evidently a lot of people in her fandom - I wonder if she is aware of that?

6. Mike Allen...Longtime Bushbot
Some may remember his "stellar" work at the Washington Post. He was one of boooshie's pets for a long time and it was amazing how never once did you see Rove's fingers move when he typed his tripe.

In many ways, these softball interviews are an indictment of the corporate media's complicity in this regime's crimes and corruption. There are many things bubbling under the surface that are showing how corrupt the media has become in protecting its own access and elitism...and this is a perfect showcase.

8. He Also Worked For Time...
http://time-blog.com/allen_report/bio.html

He jumped aboard the Alibritton Express (The Politico) with his bud, Jim Van De Hei. He used to be on with Keith and a lot of other shows...why I mentioned how amazing it was how never once did you hear Rove's voice actually come out Allen's lips. Plus there were rumors of him being "involved" in the Gannon/Gunkert story....but that's for another day.

Cheers...

10. Harris and Halperin brought their cronies with them
The majority of the reporters seem to be from Time and Washington Post.

If there's any doubt as their right leanings:

From Glen Greenwald's "Great American Hypocrites":

On March 28, 2007, Media Matters published an analysis documenting it had "reviewed the Drudge Report Archives and found that since The Politico launched on Jan. 23 (a mere sixty-four days earlier), Drudge has linked to Politico items on at least 45 separate occasions."

On some occasions, Drudge promoted and linked to Politico stories before The Politico published the story on its own site. The two websites worked in perfect tandem with each other, and no publication promoted the gossip-obsessed, ring-wing Drudge agenda as extensively as did The Politico. Drudge, in turn, repaid The Politico with links so numerous and continuous that one W"eb analyst estimated in March 2007 that Drudge accounted for 65 percent of The Politico's traffic (the next-highest source of traffic for The Politico was Google, at a mere 3 percent).

pages 56 -57.

9. it's a sad day when people who watch The Daily Show & Colbert
are far more informed about current events than people who watch the mainstream so-called "news"
