My whacked out circle went like this today.
Edited on Thu May-15-08 11:30 PM by babylonsister
I started my day listening to "Winter Soldiers" giving their testimonies to the Progressive Caucus, I guess only women would listen. Waters, Lee, Woolsey, and Jackson Lee, the only people I'm aware of who listened at this Congressional event.

The Winter Soldiers are former Iraqi Vets who are telling their tale and finding solice in doing so, even while our country won't help them.

I learned no candy was thrown, we were all lied to, people are hurting, this illegal occupation was and is a show, higher ups lied, and when will it end?

And by the way, limbs were/could have been amputated when it was medically easier to do so, according to one of the soldiers I heard this morning. This made me ill; cut the limb off because it would be easier than surgeries to fix it? Why am I surprised? There is no support no where.

The end of the circle is Colbert, who had a man on talking about his book, "Candy Bombers", when that actually happened by my country (dropping candy-grams with nothing to prove), maybe not to make a point but because it was the right thing to do. And our role in that war was appreciated.

How times have changed.

2. It's spring
Tomorrow turn off your TV and go to the park. Swing on the swings. Pick some flowers. Lay in the grass. Treat yourself.

3. Hey, friend.
I do that daily, usually. I planted and watered a few things today, and watched half of the Winter Soldiers testimony this a.m.

Are you still going to Austin in July, and when?

9. I think so
I have to get through the school year first. And I am really broke. But providing gas doesn't cost a million dollars a gallon by July, I am hoping to come down.

8. I watched the soldiers, too.
How sad that only these few women were there to hear them. And not one repig. NOT ONE! The part about the soldier's injured leg really shook me up. Is this the treatment these soldiers are getting? Is this why there are so many amputees? It's too much trouble? Their testimony was gut-wrenching.

10. You know this is about
why we're here.

Who runs this country. Our founders said (and so we have followed, generation upon generation) that the powers of government belong not to the powerful for their own interests, but to the people, spread as we are across the continent, believing in the promise of America.

It's not supposed to be about a ruling class, with access and resources beyond the imagination of the regular family striving in West Virginia, or Indiana, or Ohio.

It's supposed to be about them, individual people without any greater power than citizenship in the United States of America, which we as Americans treasure above everything else.

The exercise of that power has been turned against the very people it was created to protect.

Times have changed, and that's why we come here to make sure they change again.

12. Yeah, I guess I missed out.
Sort of. Babylonsister, I don't know how how far north you live, or how warm it is where you live, but it's pretty warm here, and I think it could get warmer.
