john hagee's militant anti-gay stance has me wondering.....
....if he's another ted haggard soon to be exposed.

if so, how badly would that hurt McBraindamage?

is just an anti-gay, homophobic bigot.

3. Please stop suggesting that all anti-gay bigots are actually gay.
It's insulting to gay people.

Further, your suggestion that it would be more damaging to McCain to have a gay adviser than a bigoted adviser speaks volumes.

6. well, you're way off base.
projection is when people direct hate at somebody else because of something they hate about themselves. it's common for these hateful, militant, anti-gay fundamentalists to get exposed for being hypocritical gay people themselves.

i'm not suggesting that all anti-gay bigots are gay, but when they take it to the level that hagee has there's usually something deeper than what meets the eye.

and i wasn't talking about how damaging it would be for mccain to have a gay advisor. your lame attempts to paint me as a homophobe are beneath any DUer. anyone that knows me knows i'm not a homophobe. so get over yourself. here....let me spell it out for you, since you don't seem intelligent enough to understand my original post:

hagee is an anti-gay bigot.
he has a bunch of frothing at the mouth fundies that are highly homophobic and he's got them all riled up in an anti-gay frenzy.
the republicans always court the fundy vote so they have to appeal to the homophobic side of these people.
john mccain is a republican.
john mccain has decided to pander to the fundies because it's his only chance to be elected.
john mccain courted the endorsement of anti-gay bigot john hagee.

ok...are you with me so far or should i go slower for you?

ok, so, if hagee turns out to be like so many of the other televangelists who have skeletons in their closets (usually, it ends up being that they're guilty of the very thing they hate so much) and he is exposed the way ted haggard was, then it will be interesting to see how well his endorsement will go over with his mainly homophobic following. his following, or fundies in general, are critical to repubs in national elections.

were you able to follow that?

now, all that's left is for you to apologize for inferring that i'm a homophobe.

5. Probably not.
Not every homophobic evangelist asshole is secretly gay. That's a meme that's long since run its course.

people most outwardly opposed to something can be inwardly confused and in denial. We see it a lot still.... especially in the GOP.

8. By that logic, Hagee must secretly be a New Orleanian
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hagee#Comments_on_Hurricane_Katrina

During the same September 18, 2006, edition of National Public Radio's Fresh Air, Hagee said Hurricane Katrina was an act of God, punishing New Orleans for "a level of sin that was offensive to God." He referred to a "homosexual parade" held on the date the hurricane struck and this was proof "of the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans." , even though the Southern Decadence parade was scheduled for the following week and the primary gay neighborhoods, the French Quarter and the Marigny, were spared the flooding and destruction.

The city's got enough problems as it is. Please don't stick it with Hagee, too!

10. probably not
and i never said that people who hate gay people secretly wish they gay.

a lot of racism probably stems from economic fear. white people on the low rung of the socio-economic ladder don't want to see black people pass them up and racism manifests itself. there are certainly other reasons i imagine.

i don't think all homophobes are self hating homosexuals.

12. You do this to throw the hate back on gay people
because, according to you, straight people can do no wrong. So if he's anti-gay he must be gay himself. Jesus knows that straight people can't possibly be anti-gay.

Another example of the hidden anti-gay bias here on DU. No matter how many times you straight people are called out on this, you continue to do it. And what is even more pathetic and disgusting is when you defend it like you know more about LGBT Americans and their internal issues than they do themselves.

It's time for straight people to OWN the bigots in their community. The straight community creates anti-gay bigotry, they teach it to their children, they accept it from others, and they will defend it as we've seen in this thread already. It's time they stop denying their anti-gay bias and work to change.
