Hell, it may be a first! Because, as we all know, these people don't apologize for anything. The mood has shifted over the past few days and these guys aren't getting away with the crap the MSM normally ignored in the past. They've realized people are out for blood and the Republicans are starting to run scared.

1. As well it should've been
Hopefully even a douchebag republican can realize when he's said something utterly and completely beyond the pale

2. Republican apologies are never based in seeking forgiveness
Edited on Fri May-16-08 08:53 PM by ck4829
It's always either...

"I'm sorry that I got caught"

OR

"I'm sorry that you got offended by what I said"

3. Mama said you gotta apologize right to a person's face.
Apologizing by issuing a statement is totally bogus.

5. What did it take him? Eight to 10 hours? That's fast??
Maybe for a Republican who had to first check in with Hannity to see if it was OK, but for the rest of the universe, this wasn't fast.

It wasn't even half-fast.

I hope we have seen the last of him on the national stage.

8. Oh, I think he got the applause he was looking for.
I've watched the clip a few times and those folks may not have busted up like they were at a Gallagher concert, but they certainly found it humorous. But the speed the MSM pounced on this is quite a surprise. And I think it's a big change on how the media reacted to these Republican quips in the past.

7. Sounds more like he blames the chair!!
WTF, isn't he a governor anymore?

This has to be the lamest excuse in political history, "It is the chair's fault."

Update | 7:30 p.m.: Mr. Huckabee just released a statement, apologizing:

"During my speech at the N.R.A., a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling,
distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech. I made an off hand remark that was in no way
intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama.
I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention.”
