Texas Megachurch Minister Drives 200 Miles to Have Sex With 13-Year-Old Girl

Texas: Plano man Joe Barron, 52, a minister at Prestonwood Baptist Church near Dallas, was arrested after driving nearly 200 miles to Bryan to meet who he thought was a 13-year-old girl he had been chatting with sexually online for roughly two weeks.

The girl was actually an undercover agent leading police to Barron and his car, inside of which they found condoms and a web-cam. He had been with the 26,000-member church for 18 months; they said this was the first incident of this type with Barron.

Executive pastor Mike Buster said, "We are disturbed and saddened by the reports we have heard and we are praying for the Barron family," adding that they are giving police their full cooperation. He is currently out on bond from Brazos County Jail.

I just can't imagine the level of self-delusion required to think "Well sure, this is frequently a police sting, but THIS girl is different - she really wants me!"

I used to work with this redneck bastard who had been to prison for raping a child. Naturally, he always denied his guilt, but he also said "that 9 year old looked like a SLUT!!" :puke: :puke:

I can't say I've ever thought of a 9 year old child looking like anything other than a child.

This church is just miles from my house. It is huge. I have friends that visit from out of town and think the church is a huge indoor football arena.

16. He will probably be disbarred. I knew of a lawyer that got busted for
child porn. He lost everything, his law license, his wife, his business, his home. Even his mistresses dropped him.

10. We have lots of those mega churches down here
We have one in my community that looks like it could be an arena for a pro basketball or hockey franchise. It is so big, we have high school graduations there and our opening day ceremonies for teachers returning to work to start a new school year. Every year on that day, I stand in the massive structure outside the "seminary" and pretend I'm ringing a bell, and saying "Get your money changed here!" Lord knows why I still have my job, LOL!

The arresting officer was named, Get This, Sgt. Shane Bush

Bryan police Sgt. Shane Bush said Barron told him he was ashamed by the arrest.

“I asked him what his initial thoughts were and he said, shame, guilt, grief -- those were some of his words,” Bush said.

Video of officers searching Barron's car showed that the vehicle contained a box of condoms and a CD of religious music, among other items. Officers searched his car and found a computer camera that they later said he was going to give the girl as a gift. They also found 10 condoms folded inside a golf ball box in the back, officers said.
