Why would a US Soldier die in Canada 2 weeks after being hit in Iraq?

The Department of Defense is reporting that Sgt. John Daggett of Phoenix, AZ died thursday as a result of wounds suffered in Baghdad on May 1st. He was with a US unit from Hawaii. He died in Halifax Canada. What on earth was a wounded troop doing in Canada? Maybe the DoD is saving money by using the Canadian health care system for our troops.

1. Perhaps plane made emergency stop in Halifax on route elsewhere?
A friend of mine with serious medical problems went to Israel on a church tour. He started bleeding from the mouth flying home to US and plane happened to be approaching mainland over Nova Scotia so they landed in Halifax for him to get medical treatment.

2. Very difficult to immagine
Could be I suppose but when I was in the Army a plane that was carring wounded troops wouldn't stop until it landed where it was supposed to, if some of the troops died enroute that would just be the breaks. I doubt that they were bringing a guy who was on the verge of death back to the states on a commercial flight and its just impossible for me to immagine that any sort of a military med-evac flight would stop either.

Who knows? Just sounded fishy to me.

3. Per this, they landed in Halifax because his condition worsened:

Medical teams worked for two weeks to save Army Sgt. John Kyle Daggett, a 2005 high-school graduate from Phoenix, but the wounds he suffered from a rocket-propelled grenade were too great.

Daggett, who was injured May 1 in Baghdad, died Thursday.

He was aboard a medical-transport plane that left Iraq on May 5 and was headed for Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., but the plane was forced to land in Halifax, Nova Scotia, because of his condition, the Department of Defense said Friday.

7. So did I but maybe his injuries were too severe? I don't know, but
he's out of his misery now. I hope * has nonending nightmares, but I guess he'd need a conscience for that to happen.

8. You have to have a conscience to have nightmares over all the deaths he's caused
and he doesn't. He's a classic sociopath.
