Ohio students' hotel room doors duct-taped shut 2 hours, 10 minutes ago



MILLBURY, Ohio - Parents have complained to a northwest Ohio school board that a chaperone sealed students in their hotel rooms with duct tape during a high school choir field trip.

At a heated meeting Monday, Michelle Mata told the Lake Local school board in Millbury that the tactic panicked her son during a recent weekend trip to Chicago.

Sylvia Keeler said she may file charges. Her son, Mark Hummel, said he worried he could be trapped during a fire.

they did this to us too when we went on trips.

its one lil piece of tape. they dont SEAL the door shut.

its just enough so that if u open the door, it rips... so they know u left ur room.

just a guy whos had it done to him and his classmates EVERY over night trip i ever went on with anything school related.

it doesnt keep you from opening the door. thats for damn sure

so unless someone provides pictures of a door completely sealed up all around the edges with tape... this is BS.

i once got in trouble for it, because kids from another school apparently didnt have it done to them n they were out roaming the hotel halls all nite... they thought itd be funny if they ripped a bunch of our kids tape so theyd get in trouble.

I'm just wondering

In the picture they showed, the tape was loosely looped around the door handle and attached by a small amount at the frame. It wasn't a regular door knob, it looked like the door lever type. The kids could even open the door some without ripping the tape but if they opened it too far it would tear or pull loose.
