Former Clinton Whitehouse aide: We're in for a "cataclysmic" Bush endgame
Sidney Blumenthal says Bush feels "unconstrained."
May 20, 2008 1:52 PM
Sidney Blumenthal, journalist, former Clinton White House aide and senior advisor to Hillary Clinton, today spoke at Third Way to promote his new book "The Strange Death of Republican America".

He said that the US faces a "cataclysmic" final few months of the Bush term, and that Bush is determined to leave a lasting mark on the world regardless of who is elected the next president.

"Bush feels unconstrained right now, and a sense of urgency," Blumenthal said, later referring to a Jerusalem Post story that warns Bush plans to attack Iran before his term ends in January.

On the battle for the 2008 election, Blumenthal said the Democrats are mistaken in their effort to define John McCain as offering a third Bush term. He said that's inaccurate and the public won't buy it. "It's a hard sell," he said. McCain has other weaknesses the Dems should press harder, Blumenthal said.

1. I, too, have a bad feeling about the rest of the year.
That something may blow up somewhere before the elections and we'll be in a heap of pain and committed to another war. I can't tell you how much I loathe Bush.

2. Hasn't he marred the future of the world enough already?
War, global economy collapse, spreading of hate?

Enough, stop him before he blows us all up.

7. My guess as to...Why Impeachment was and is "off the table"...
Edited on Wed May-21-08 06:53 AM by Hubert Flottz
I suppose it's because congress had never tried to impeach a would-be "dictator" before.

The democrats knew well that they never had the votes in the Senate to do anything to or with W, because not a single republican in congress would step up to the plate and do the right thing, for their country and for the Constitution Of The United Sates Of America.

"OUR" Country...turned into Bush's country on 12/12/2000 and America or the world probably never will be able to, "GET OVER IT!"

Did John McCain ever REALLY go against the 8 year long flow of lies and dirty deals coming out of Jr.'s out of control White House? NO, he hugged W and W kissed him on the head!

8. If the GOP ever hopes to redeem itself for giving us Bush/Cheney
The only way is to stop this madness. Impeach, whatever it takes.

15. It's time to start keeping Bush preoccupied...

with impeachment proceedings. If he starts a war with Iran first, it will be too late.

9. Scorched earth policy
I've been saying he's going to leave a scorched earth behind him for years. If for no other reason just to show us he's still relevant. It's in perfect keeping with his spoiled brat personality and sour grapes self-pity which he displays daily through the strut/smirk facade. The cowboy swagger is that of a wimp trying desperately to hide his cowardice.

13. His Poppy Did A Lot Of Damage After The '92 Elections
There was that infamous Somalia invasion and then his pardon of all his Iran-Contra buddies (were they traitors or appeasers...I keep getting the terms all screwed up these days).

Junior will need a real close watch as we get to the end of his term...as his agenda will be to get the most profits and greed while he and his enablers can and then make a clean getaway. The ultimate is to leave the mess to Gramps who will secure the fleecing continues...especially with all those lobbyists. They aren't there for the BBQ. He'll also try to immunize everything and anything he or crashcart or rove have ever seen, talked about, thought about and so on.

It will only get worse if a Democrat is elected in November because his assholiness is sure to leave a lot of landmines that will hamstring the next REAL President...among all the messes that are current festering. The most dangerous time will be Nov. 6-January 20. I hope we survive it.

16. What happens if Bush attacks Iran and they respond with attacks in Iraq?
The ramifications could be immense. Oil at $200 a barrel? $300? It could bring the U.S. and the rest of the world to a standstill. We'll be drawing oil from the strategic reserve and ChimpCo will be going on overdrive, telling us how afraid we all must be of secret Iranian operatives coming into the country to blow us up. Bush's own Operation Chaos?
