9. The Democratic Congress has failed to do what it was elected to do
That is to end the war and stop Bush's abuses.

The only way that was going to be accomplished was to impeach and remove Bush and Cheney, and Speaker Pelosi took that off the table.

DUers of the eighth CD in California, please vote for Shirley Golub and send the establishment Democrats a message. Ms. Golub doesn't have to win to accomplish that, just show well.

12. On an individual level...

I am not able to say that any of the representatives or senators that "represent" me are doing anything whatsoever to help their constituents.

I've only written three letters to a politician before. I don't do more because I don't hate trees that much to spend 3 hours writing the perfect letter for it to be thrown away.

One letter asked why they voted against a proposal to increase the amount of alternative energy we use in our district. He replied that many of the citizens in town can't afford any price increases that might come from that. Valid, fine. I disagree on the principle that it won't be more expensive when all costs are considered with coal mining, transport, burning, cleanup.

Second letter was to my senator asking why they voted for the bankruptcy bill. This "Democrat" said that everybody should have some level of responsibility and not be able to hide from their debts. I didn't reply because I probably would have had the police at my door based on what I would have said.

Third one was to my rep. I asked her what she is doing or has done to help hundreds of her constituents who have had their jobs sent to India over the last 3 years. No response.

So, I believe that Congress is not handling its job at all. Bargaining, money, money and money get in the way of true progress. My dad likes to say the only way we will get some progress is if a meteor hits the capitol building someday. I don't believe that would fix it since millions of our fellow citizens would vote in the next batch of shitheads.
