So, My Monday Night Was Kind Of Interesting...

After the New York City press screening of "War, Inc.," I was invited to dinner with the lovely and brilliant Larisa Alexandrovna, Vanity Fair contributing editor Clyde Unger, author of "House of Bush, House of Saud," (source material for "Fahrenheit 9/11") and "The Fall of the House of Bush," and Kyle Hence, writer of "9/11: Press for Truth."

I felt like Katrina vanden Heuvel or something. (You have to go to the Nation website and read the "Nation Editor for the Day" contest to get that joke.) Craig and Larisa had much to discuss involving his current project - keep an eye out for it, can't go into detail about it - and Kyle and I discussed Rachel Maddow, my personal 9/11 experience and vegetarianism. He's a great guy who, of course, has worked with DUer Paul Thompson. Larisa said Scott Horton was at the screening with his wife, but I missed him, as I was sitting (hiding) way in back.

Overall, great time right up there with meeting my favorite DUers over the years.

I posted a couple of things using my iPhone, but it is pretty difficult typing in url's on the touchpad! Kyle loved my iPhone, but of course we talked about how evil AT&T is and how conflicted I feel about sticking with them instead of getting Credo or that other service. Eh, it's all Apple's fault. I couldn't post with my laptop either, because I haven't quite figured out how to get my wireless on it to work yet.

I took one of Kyle and Larisa, but the lighting was just awful and Larisa hated it, so I promised not to post it on the tubes. :)

A meeting of "Least-Favorite DUers" would be pretty exciting in it's own way. (You would not be invited, though)

My least favorite famous folks meet-up was meeting Skinner and EarlG. Skinner smelled bad and was drunk out of his gourd and EarlG felt up my mother. (O.K. I made all that up... well, except for the drunk part.)

I have only met one other DU'er, and that's only because she is my wife :)

Just get so busy with life sometimes, it's hard to get together. I, for one, have been worn to a frazzle trying to keep up with the nonsense and subsequent stress from over the past eight years.

I am so-o-o-o jealous.. You got to hang out with some of my heroes!

Rachel Maddow was supposed to be there, but I think she didn't show up because she had to fill in for Olbermann the next day.

Enough that I can't tell you almost all of it.

But on the other hand, it was also loud as hell in this crappy beer brewery off Union Square. The food sucked, too. Company more than made up for it. :) :) :)

Yes, we had a blast indeed. Hissy is very handsome, more so than his DU photo. The food indeed sucked, but the company = as hissy points out, made up for it. I am still traveling on assignment, but will try to get pictures to Hissy for posting. I believe we only took two, me and Hissy, and Hissy and Kyle I think. Hugs:)
